Default Chaps

Does anyone know where a tall, thin guy can find a decent pair of chaps without breaking the bank? I'm 6' 3'(about 6' 5" in the riding boots) with a 32" waist and an 36" inseam. Not suffering from leather shrinkage in the winter by any means. My dilemma is this: If I find a pair that fits me in the waist then I look like I'm wearing leather golfing knickers. If I wear them so that they bottom of the chaps are level with the hem on my jeans the chap's buckle is putting a hurtin' on the wedding tackle. Low-rise chaps are NOT a good idea.

Smile Chaps

At 5'5 - 5"6 with a nice pair of Georgians, don't have that problem.

Have you looked at a Wilsons leather store? They use to sell chaps, but couldn't tell ya if they still do or not, haven't been in one of those stores in years. How about hot leathers? These may work (there's a size chart on the lower right and it looks like you can get them in a couple of different lengths) http://www.foxcreekleather.com/111.html

Majic:

When you said "Chaps" I thought you were talking about looking for a couple Buds to drink with at a British Pub. Then you were giving your dimesions and started talking about Shrinkage....... Just fooling.

Fox Creek would be the way to go. I like there products. However Custon chaps can be a little spendy but should last forever unless you do the human "Sit & Spin" on the pavement. Thats when you would be glad you got em on.

Ken:

You are correct. Thats what a wallet in one pocket and comb and rag in the other is for.

Chaps are always a great look. I hope you have good luck finding a perfectly fitting pair. Wear them with pride and don't ever take them off. Remember, their not just for riding anymore.

I'm 6'2" tall with a 36"W & 35" inseam. I purchased my chaps from foxcreekleather which fit me perfectly, look good and very durable. I usually only wear them when traveling on longer trips and cooler weather riding.
