Default Leathers - Not Black?

My wife was asking me why almost all the riding leathers are black.

She understands that we look tough and cool in black leather and I explained black hides the grease and road grime but she still wants to know why not other colors for women who are stylish.

I pulled out an old brown leather jacket I've had since college (but is a bit too tight to wear now) but she wasn't satisfied.

Steel, could you imagine trying to keep them colors clean? I think you would look like a giant pina-colida on two wheels.

I know Icon and some other manufacturers are making leathers in diffrent colors to satisfy the fashion minded women riders out there.

I think I'll stick with normal black

Okay, granted I only looked at one page of results... but can anyone say "Storm Trooper?"

John 1:14

It is the duty of nations, as well as of men, to own their dependence upon the overruling power of God, to confess their sins and transgressions, in humble sorrow, yet with assured hope that genuine repentance will lead to mercy and pardon; and to recognize the sublime truth announced in the Holy Scriptures and proven by all history, that those nations only are blessed whose God is the LORD.

I had a Vetter jacket once that was tri-color: black, gray, and maroon. It was beautiful......until I had to clean a bug splat off of it and the color came off too. The dealer took very good care of the issue and would have cheerfully gotten my another. I opted for a black Hein Greike summer jacket (vented), which has been very good for 25 yrs. now. It has certainly collected its share of bugs but they don't show as bad on black..and those I have scrubbed off haven't removed any dye.

Damn! I thought I was the only guy who worked a lime green leather jacket and pink chaps.

Seriously, let me ask Joe K. He used to wear chaps and nothing else until Chris told him enough was enough.
