Default Helmet Hero

I'm one that thinks the word Hero is waaay over-used these days..
Perhaps it's more of a subjective description than an officially bestowed lable..

Well here's my Hero..
I have been following the story and efforts of Richard Quigley for quite some time but not always with the proper attention..
That's why it came as a very bad surprise to read today in the Thunder Press that Richard died in Sept. of '07 of terminal Lymphoma..
Why is this important--- it's because for decades now Richard has Vigorously fought the Helmet law in California and WON in the courts.. However, the Cal AG knowingly did not do the correct processes to reverse that horrible Rights-robbing law.. Consequently the fight has had to be carried on even after victory..

Richard worked right up to his painful death to achieve Freedom of Choice for all Americans because he knew that the helmet law Kaliforgnia adopted is virtually the same as the National law that is being fought for by the Commie Liberals/Democrats that want to legislate by law what is good safe and proper for all of us..
God,, I hate Democrats..

Luckily there are Heroic folk to take up that same challenge,,, Heaven help and bless them..

Go ahead--- google Richard Quigley.. If you've been a reader of the Thunder Press over the years you're probably familiar with this story..

That is a cool story. Haven’t heard anything coming out of DC lately but every once in a while Joan Claybrook of public citizen and a couple of other “save us from ourselves” organizations, pushes for national helmet laws.
Problem is it is not even in legislation but through regulations from the NHTSA and threatens to withhold federal road funds if they are not enacted State based.
They do this because they can not get a national legislation through.
If you left it up to these people we would all have to wear safety harness hung from the ceiling and helmets while taking showers.
The more attention these originations bring to themselves the more money they can raise, from people who have been brain washed to think they are going to have to take care of us once we get hurt.
This is why everyone, even if you wear a helmet must support you motorcycle associations, and your right to choose.
Me I am throwing away my vote and voting Libertarian again to give us our rights back.

Hi HC

Thanks for the interest and time..

Listen up-- I'm really sorry to hear that you might throw away your vote to the Libertarians,, I really hope I can evetually persuade you back to the lesser of two evils,, that being MCcain.. The only winner from a lost vote is Usama Obama..

But,, I don't wanna get side-tracked here--- this is about Richard Quigley and his wonderful efforts for OUR freedoms..

May his soul rest in peace.

I would never ride without a helmet and I would never try to force somebody else to wear one.

You have a very good point there HC, regarding the method the safety-nazis use to get their way. Years ago NHTSA threatened to withhold highway funds from any state that did not enact the seat belt laws. At that time I sent my Congresscrook a letter asking him the wisdom of denying funds that states use to make roads SAFER in order to force states to bend to their will.

If you want to read about a "HELMET HERO" go to www.bikernet.com and check out the Thursday news. His name is Donald "Pappy" Pittsley may he rest in peace. In my home state of Connecticut he fought for bikers rights and he is the reason we haven't had a helmet law here in well over 30 years! If needed we will pick up the fight once again!

Has anyone stepped up to try and fill his shoes?
