Default Harley Boots

I got a pair 2 months ago.... and the soles started falling off.... and split up the back.

so the Dealer replaced them. (No problem)

and I noticed the label on the inside said

MADE IN CHINA

So I will go get Redwings. Made in Minnesota USA

It is extremely hard to find goods (or should I say bads) up here that aren't made in China. After I bought my HD boots about 4 or 5 years ago I noticed where they were made, fortunately they are comfy and have lasted, but they are only used for riding. What bothers me most is the cost of purchasing substandard goods produced in China is not reflected at the cash register.

When shopping for the Redwings make sure you check to see where they are made. Many of their boots are made in China. I'm a long time Redwing devotee. I don't know who's I'll buy in the future.
I read a rumor on another forum, actually put out by a Chinese auto trade magazine to the effect that two Chinese auto makers were preparing to purchase GM and Chrysler. They are already tied into joint ventures with them, not a long shot to buy the joint venture partner when they are on the ropes.
The things that politicians and businessmen have done to this great nation in the name of greed are purely criminal.

I looked on the Redwing webpage and they led me to believe that the 3 factories are all right there in minnesota, the first one being in the town of Redwing. Now the Wesco Boots are only made in Scapoose Oregon. I went to highschool on the coast from there in Astoria. so I may get a pair of them (over $400 now) I am extremely hard on boots. I can tear up a good $250 set of Redwings in 2 years or less. No wonder the China made Harley boots only lasted 6 weeks. Had a pair of Wolverines last months....... oh well....Maybe after I pass 50 years old I will slow down..... it is just around the corner....

weird,
I bought a pair of harley boots as well, almost 2 years ago. i wear them every day to work and they have been great. only problem i had was one day i tightened up the laces, and tried to pull up the zipper too hard and broke the damn zipper. had them fixed at local dry cleaner, no problem. still wearing and they are great boots.

The boots I bought at Reno HD in 2005 lasted 2 years then in '07 they lasted 1 year...then in '08 they lasted 6 weeks. Now they have lasted a year so far, but that's because I bought Redwings a year ago!!!!
I am in construction and they are 'riding' boots, so since I slop in water, concrete, welding, etc...they dont stand up to that abuse. But the Redwings do.
Wolverines only lasted 9 months.

If I just wear them for riding, they should last a long time!

I'm with you uncle. As far as any boot or safety toe. I wear nothing but red wings. Sadly even they are almost all made over seas now.

Carolina's are another AMERICAN made boot that is sturdy and damn comfortable. I wear nothing but Danner's for work (the make a USMC approved) and Carolina's for all other wear. These are what I wear to ride in and for an everyday boot...comfortable as heck and well mad. Proudly tagged on the inside with a US Flag and made in the USA.

EDIT: They are steel toed as well...

Unless they closed up shop and moved in the last 3 or 4 months... Redwings are made here in the USA!!!!
Red Wing Shoes
Click on "History" near the center bottom.

Maybe you should do your research before you spout off wrong info, leading people to believe Redwing is an overseas company. They started SELLING in other countries in the 70's. They only have 3- manufacturing plants and they all are in Minnesota.
