Default Rain Gear

Time for some new rain gear. My old HD stuff lasted about 15 years. Seems all the new HD rain gear is real steep in price. Any recommendations on other brands? Looking to spend about $200-250 tops. BOtz

The HD stuff at the stealer I checked on the other day was just over a $100.00. I have been thinking about it, the Wal-Mart stuff lasts quite a while for $20.00 though.

Take a look at Nelson/Riggs. A buddy of mine got some good gear at a decent price a few years ago. I'm not sure what they run now. I have two HD rainsuits that work well although I think they don't offer them now. I bought them on sale at the dealer when the new stuff with different catchy names came out. 40% off gets them down into the same range as the non HD stuff.

Frog Toggs at your local sporting good shop. $50-$60. Works great. Comes in black and pushes into a small bag for packing.

Frog Toggs actually came out with some biker toggs - heat shields on lower legs. I have been using them for 10 years - like them and would buy them again.....frogg toggs Outerwear

The new issue of AIM has a review of the Tourmaster Sentinel suit in the back of it. I researched a little and found the jacket is about $85. I'm thinking about getting just the jacket, not the pants. The pants I have now do the trick but I'm gonna need some of those vinyl pull over things for the boots. I haven't decided if I'll get the ones with the open heel or not.

Hammerhead,

I have the boot pullovers with the open heel. Gives you a little better feel for the ground. Your boots really dont get much wetter with them either.

Thanks for the input, they're about $20 cheaper to boot( yuk yuk). I was curious if the heels would get soaked.

Botz, here's the jacket I just bought. A Tourmaster Elite II. Nice jacket, a little heavier than I was expecting but I could use it on a cool evening down here. As you can see in the photos ( I hope they come thru ) the reflective stuff really jumps out in light The jacket has a under the helmet hood, elastic/ velcro on the wrists, collar and double flap over the front zipper and plenty of pockets. It was only $50 and has worked beautifully. I haven't seen rain since I bought it
