Default Head Trip Helmet

Since I have gotten multiple questions in regards to the helmet I am wearing while riding the 2010 Street Bob on page 71 of the December 2009 issue of American Iron Magazine I figured I would put the information here for everyone to see.

I am wearing a Head Trip Helmet made by Advanced Carbon Composites (HeadTrip Helmets by ADVANCED CARBON COMPOSITES). They offer both novelty and DOT helmets in a variety of styles and a multitude of colors. Sizing is straight forward and all DOT helmets come with 3 different sizing pads for a custom fit. We ran a review in our Feb 2009 issue.

The one I am wearing specifically is the Extended Half DOT Helmet in Flat Black. Personally it is pretty much the only half helmet I wear these days.

The company has an ad in that same December 2009 issue on page #149.

They can be reached at:

I have this exact same helmet...what an awesome helmet. I want to get another one just so I can have it on stand by...in case I need it, but that's not good enough justification to spend that kind of $$$ on a helmet just to sit around.

Light weight and comfortable, the only drawback for me is I have a huge noggin and the d rings sit right on my jaw and can get a little uncomfortable. Other than that no complaints what so ever...I would recommend this helmet to anyone!

What do you guys think about the non dot versions? Is it better than a baseball cap?

I've been thinking of starting to use helmets, since just about every week you read about another biker going down. But with a few extra lbs. Somehow my 2x full faces just don't go on & off very well. Don't want to go the mushroom half helmet, but everything that looks cool is "novelty".

Opinions?

I've had my Head Trip helmet (extended half natural carbon fiber finish) for 2 years and really like it. The fact that it is very light is important to me because I have arthritis in my neck.
Regarding non-dot helmets, Tejasandre, they probably offer more protection than a baseball cap but not by much. In a major crash the rider usually suffers so much torso injury, ruptured organs etc. that the helmet or lack thereof is moot point. A significant number of riders take fairly minor spills, hit their head and if no helmet or inadequate one they are out of luck.
