Default Mountainfest Trip Days 2,3 and 4

Day 2 - Wake Forest - No mileage

Since we didnt ride at all this day I'll make this brief. BBQ, Beers and shots all day. Al messed around with his linkage and we determined we couldnt fix it without tearing the primary off. We left it alone. The friend we visited, Tony and his wife were extremely hospitable. Tony's wife drank way too much and we had to ship her off to bed. We stuffed ourselves and packed the scooters for Day 3 trip to Blue Ridge Motorcycle Campground.

Day 3 - Wake Forest to Cruso, NC - 300 miles

The night prior Jimmy the Wig started dropping hints he wanted to make a pit stop at his sisters house over by Charlotte, NC. We told him we're on a schedule and he was informed prior to the trip he was a guest and we're not changing our plans. Since we only had 300 miles to go we obliged him for an hour or so. 1 hour leads to 3 hours to maybe we should stay here tonight and thats when we said times up we're going. 3 hours behind and this had to be one of the hottest riding days I've experienced. Brutal heat. With the heat comes the rain and now riding in rain again. Traveling 64 west about to pick up 276 north we stop to get some supplies (Beer) and a really bad sandwich. We hit 276 north which turns day into night. It would be an amazing road in the daylight with lots of switchbacks and some pretty hairy curves. Rain gets harder, fog rolls in and apparently a real good storm must have passed through. Broken tree branches and debris all over the road. Follow 276 N to the Blue Ridge Motorcycle Campground and its dark now. No time for tents so we hooked up 2 small cabins for the night. Sat outside and had a few cold ones. Very nice place for motorcycles only. They have a huge fire pit, cookhouse and a stage for music. Owner was real nice and said weekends were real busy. I'de go again.

Day 4 Cruso NC to Dandridge TN - 108 miles

We picked the Blue Ridge Campground for its close proximity to the Wheels through Time Museum, about 30 miles. 9AM rolling towards breakfast and the museum. Stopped at a little 50's diner and ate like kings. All homecooked southern food. Stuff we cant get in NY. Sausage gravy with biscuits, grits, etc. Awesome. Got to the museum about 10 and spent an easy 3 hours touring the place. My second time there. The owner is moving the museum to Arizona in October. If your on the east coast and havent been there you better get there before it moves. The place is amazing. Frisco and all you Arizonians are in for a treat when Dale gets out there with his museum. You will not be disappointed. Every era of HD is displayed with amazing detail and hundreds of bikes. Check it out. Next stop riding the Smokies. We rode up 441N aways and all of a sudden the roads closed. We had to double back and find a detour to get around
this one area. We did and were back on track. The Smokies are beatiful and the roads are challenging in some areas. Lots of twisties. Just a nice road to ride. After exiting the park stopped at the Smoky Mountain Brewery for a burger and a beer. Food was excellent. So were the home brewed beers. Much better than the breweries by us. Next stop was my buddy's trailer on Douglas Lake. He lent it to us for the two days. Enroute on 321 N Al has his 2nd breakdown. Coil this time. He knew it was gonna go sooner or later so he had a spare. Changed it out rolling again. As we're fixing the coil several concerned bikers/motorists stopped to offer help and inform us of a severe storm which had been chasing us and was about to catch us. Well....it did. We ended up under an overpass on 40E and were stuck there for at least an hour. Normally we would suit up the raingear but it was really coming down, hail and high winds. About this time Jimmy the Skirt is having a nuclear reaction in his pants from all the Sausage gravy and cant hold it "NO MORE" He runs out from under the overpass into the weeds and unleashes his fury. Now we're not only stuck under the overpass.....IT SMELLS LIKE SH**!!! I wanted to kill him. Finally rain lets up and we make it to the trailer just at dusk. What a view. Lakefront and peaceful. We unpack and make plans on hitting the Bobarosa Saloon in TN. the next day A recommendation from EVOKENEVO on this site. We were not disappointed. Pics below.

Great stuff, Botz. The pics had me longing for my native South and my rides through the App Mtns.

John 1:14

It is the duty of nations, as well as of men, to own their dependence upon the overruling power of God, to confess their sins and transgressions, in humble sorrow, yet with assured hope that genuine repentance will lead to mercy and pardon; and to recognize the sublime truth announced in the Holy Scriptures and proven by all history, that those nations only are blessed whose God is the LORD.
