Now as far as a short ride around the hill country, that is a bit of an oxymoron. Of course if Chris M. had made the comment it would take on a different meaning - the short part not the moron.
You can wear out a bike riding in Texas and a good chunk of that is the hill country. If you have never been, Ride Texas magazine is a good source of places to see.
Except for two years in the army I have lived here all of my 61 years and still haven't seen half of the state. The fact that they call it The Republic of Texas Rally tells you something. In some ways it is like another country.
Come on down and enjoy yourself. You won't regret it.
