It was a short trip riding around the northwest 'burbs of Chicago, but a high of 57 degrees, bright sunshine, just a few scattered, white clouds, and still a lot of color made it a really great ride. Almost 50 miles, no crazy cage drivers, and riding with my best (and only) riding buddy made me happy! I can't believe it took me 45 years to get another motorcycle.

Enjoy the weather, who knows how much longer we have to ride this year.
Why did it take you 45 years to "get another motorcycle?"

That certainly sounds like a very pleasurable ride you took, that is the venue I much prefer. We're getting nice Fall color here in Missouri also. Enjoy this weather while you can.

Please join me in this prayer daily.
This is my Granddaughter Sky, age 7. Can't walk, talk, or feed herself but look at that smile. Anyone care to complain about their lot in life? Not me!
@Buzz: I plan on riding every chance I get, even if only for a half-hour or hour.
In answer to your question about why it took so long, after the service, I didn't have the money/time/desire and then when I got married, the wife was scared of bikes and definitely didn't want me to riding when the kids were growing up. Then the absence of a bike was a habit. When my son's father-in-law got a new bike a couple of years ago and the itch was back. When my wife saw how much I once again yearned for bike of my own, she finally relented (with no coercion on my part) and told me it would be alright. It took almost a month for me then to get a new bike.
As to "another bike", you can refer to my intro here: New Harley Intro

Thanks Mike, although I really like riding like that, I'm already planning a long trip (for me) next year across southern Wisconsin to Dubuque, then through northeaster Iowa, including the River Route. Across the Mississippi again at Lansing, IA and then down along river to northern Illinois and back home. About 650 miles over 3 days. I hope it pans out!
DoorGunner, hope that ride works out for you,IAm from eastern Iowa. Living in Nebraska now. Weather has been nice here too, have had the bike out this week and the weekend looks great for riding.
