Default General Maintenance

Roadking 1024 here just wondering if anynoe can tell me if there are DVD's or Video's on how to do regularly schedualed maintenance (ie: 10,000 mile service) for the 06 model Roadking and where do I find such material? After doing some basic motifications like V&H Ovals and Fuel Pak and Air Cleaner as well as 5000 mile service, and after reading some of your posts and things I would really like to try this. I am good a removal and replacment so I sure I can handle this.

Thanks John aka Roadking1024

Get the service manual for your bike. Videos are okay but a book can be opened and left at your side to review while you are working on your ride.

The manuals give you a step by step and work good in my opinion. Besides general maint it will also help you trouble shoot problems and do upgrades.

They are also good to swat bees that try to get in yer Beer.

I purchased the fix my hog DVD, which I would highly recomend. I have it set up in the garage while working on the bike as a reference.

I would also recomend the service manual. I spent a day creating my own cheat sheets from the manual for all services. Which include the tpe of socket or wrench needed, torque setting etc. It also includes the page numbers of both the repair and service manual for reference. This speeds up the whole maintenance process and fumbling around the manual and tool box. Good Luck

which fix my hog did you buy - I have been wondering if they are worth it? I guess you could buy one of those cheap tv/dvd player TV's and set it up in the garage. I would also recommend the service manual for the bike that you own.

I would attach an excel spreadsheet that someone else created but I don't see a way to attach a file. I found the attach but it told me it was an invalid file?????

Harley service manual for your model bike is great to have. It came in handy when I re-jetted my carb and installed an SE ignition. I was thinking of buying the fix my hog dvd's as well. Can't hurt to have more info than not enough and a dvd showing how it's done is always a plus.

RE/ the Fix My Hog DVDs, the site says that the Softail edition will have some applicability to Dynas. Can anyone confirm that it's worth it for Dyna maintenance?

John 1:14

It is the duty of nations, as well as of men, to own their dependence upon the overruling power of God, to confess their sins and transgressions, in humble sorrow, yet with assured hope that genuine repentance will lead to mercy and pardon; and to recognize the sublime truth announced in the Holy Scriptures and proven by all history, that those nations only are blessed whose God is the LORD.

i really lean on my service manual when servicing my bike, those manuals are considered by me just as valuable as my tools,There is alot of knowledge to be gained for such a small price, wether it's from the manual or a dvd.haven't gotten a dvd yet,but soon, have seen there are some on ebay that i have been checkin out, knowledge is power.

I have found that if I sit and read the service manual - then go out and work on the bike - it all makes sense... I don't understand why someone wouldn't buy the service manual.... I bought the fix my hog video - which is great - watched it - read the manual - makes life a lot easier.

Yep, service manuals are definately a GOOD thing. I have'nt gotten a parts manual/catalog for my scooter yet..but, I was talking with some guys not long ago that got them for theirs..and,like the fact that they not only have the exact part #s to order right there (assuming no typos etc.) but a better "map" (so to speak) as to how it all goes back together..incase parts get mixed-up etc. Which, has NEVER-EVER happened to ME of course
