Several years ago, I got "Basic Electronics" from radioshak. It's a good book because it gives a lot of background. It may give you too much background. (By that, I mean it could be so complex that it discourages you.) It also gives some exercises, like measuring the resistance of a pencil line, and a quiz at the end of each section. It could help just as a resource.
This is the only one I know good enuff to recommend. If it only had a section that describes tools and meters, and how to use them correctly, it'd be perfect for you.
I've used the HD manual for electrical probs on my ultra electraglide, and have found it VERY easy to use compared to some of the reference materials I work with each day. HD has one problem, in my opinion...they can be vague, or confusing about some situations or procedures. The thing about that is, you'll have the prob at 11:30 at night, when ya wanna ride tomorow, and there's no one to ask. Well, here, but we might be asleep!
Take care, good luck. Don't get frustrated, and don't give up. |
