Default Bikers Handbook

Yup I can read. In the winter I read a lot. Better then tube most times.

I picked up "Bikers Hanbook" by Jay Barbieri. Been a while since a new Bike book came out.

I noticed Chris Maida had a blurb in it so I picked it up and powered through it. Most of it was already learned knowledge but the stories did bring me to a smile.

I do not get the Speed Channel so I have never seen the Cable TV show. Dunno if its worth upgrading my cable for a lot more bucks. Chris? Anyone.

Anyway Jay stated that wearing a Black Leather vest should only be done by club members with patches.

I disagree 100%. You realize how much stuff you can carry in a vest. Works well when traveling light. Maps. Aspirin. Keys. Extra ammo. Phone. Jerky. Man the lists go on.

It also protects from the elements. For us not so broad chested it cuts down on wind fatigue. Can button when it gets chilly. Open and use vest extenders when it warms up. I use a Ranger vest when its real hot.

You can use it as ground covering as not to get yer Sweat Hearts @&& dirty when you stop in the shade for a cold one. Swat at bats that are dive bombing you. Geez a vest is a must. Bottem line.

Other then that the book was a decent read.

So now we are getting fashion advice from a book written by someone we don't even know?

Not me.

JC, I am with you and find the vest a convenient way to carry stuff when I don't feel like wearing a full jacket.

As long as you're not wearing "colors" on your vest there shouldn't be a problem.

Thanks for the tip JC. I just bought Proficient Motorcycling The ultimate guide to riding well. Seems like a good one. I'll check out the one you mentioned next.

Okay, this Jay guy gives new meaning to the words, 'dips**t'. Typed in Google search for his name and it came up with a myspace blog and a pic that makes him look like a fashion diva.

He "teaches new motorcycle riders how to fit into the biker lifestyle"? He might be 30 (half my age). Where/when the phuck did he become the expert?

Been riding since the 60s; my dad rode flatties when he came hom from WWII. Riding motorcycles was for me a way of life....not a lifestlye.

Never wore a leather vest, just a denim jacket w/ sleeves cut off. Had it since 1970. Been stitched, lined and repaired several times over the years. Now it is just old beat up and faded.

Below is the link I used...

JC, ya just got to find something better to do in the winter

Another bull**** wannabe biker book by someone who's just trying to line his pockets. Man I'm tired of people trying to put their hands in my pockets and steal my hard earned money! Made that mistake once when I purchased a book titled, "101 Harley Davidson Evolution Performance Projects" by Kip Woodring and Kenna Love. What a waste of money! Do yourself a favor the next time you have an interest in a book go to your local library or to your local book store get a cup of coffee [ or put a couple of beers in your pocket] and check it out before you spend your hard earned cash! Want books on tech? Buy Donny Petersens new series of books [ 2nd due out June 25th 08] you won't need any others. Want books on the biker lifestyle? There's only one and that's the one you write!
