Default Drivwers on Cell Phones. What To Do?

OK, I want to be a good citizen - honest. Especially when on my Harley as we already have enough bad image to deal with in the real world.

So what's a biker to do when some bonehead driving her mini van is so distracted with her gossiping on the cell phone that she doesn't see you on your bike? (And yes, this applies to men yammering on their phones while driving too).

Do you lay into the horn to try to get their attention? Or shout or what?

My first concern is my own safety, then when I figure I'll be OK to let them know how dangerous and stupid their actions are in the hope it might change them in the future.

How do you handle it?

I know how you feel, every time I see some bs'ing on the phone I want to send a couple of rounds in their direction. It's a $100 ticket here, but people still do it.

Default Air Horns

I purchased a Stebel air horn, very loud. Only $40.It is larger than the stock horn, I haven't worked out the details of the installation to my satisfaction yet but it should get their attention.

I installed a Mini beast from Pro Pad http://www.thepropad.com/p-25-mini-beast-air-horn.aspx

Works for me quite well.

Thumbs up

Rolling up alongside, giving a friendly toot, then flying them the bird won't modify their stupidity, but it is satisfying.

I'll sit next to them drop a gear or two to get rpms up and let them listen to the pipes.
Not the most responsible thing to do but they are a hazard to everyone on the road and maybe the person on the other end of the line likes the sound of a harley.

I dunno guys..some of those morons are incorrigable. Last winter I was DRIVING on the e-way being EXTRA careful due to blizzard-like conditions. Then a "young lady" came flying by (on her cell-phone)..slid into a snow-drift..got herself straightened out..kept on going..and,I don't think that **** cell phone ever left her ear.

WOW-- stop the presses baby
2003fxdx,, wow, so it's only a 100$ ticket to blow a couple rounds in someones direction,,, wow,,, where do you live man, I wanna go there at least once a month, heck I can afford a c-note every 30 days, yeah baby..!

About those other dickheads,, I just ignore them..
I don't do anything to attract bad press unless they put me in imminent danger.. If I see them first they are no danger..

My bigger concern re- doing anything with these idjuts is that I might startle them and have them "react" by engaging in even worse driving than they were in the first place.

True story: Last year, around fall, I ran up on a swerving SUV filled with unbuckled kids crawling all over everywhere, each seat-back DVD screen blazing in technicolor Looney Tunes. Gave the pipes a snort, shot by, and on my way past noticed the biggest Looney Tune, reading a book, talking on her cell phone, driving w/ her elbow, while she ate a McMuffin with the other hand. I gave her the #1 sign, and she looked at me like I was the antiChrist......

ride safe...God knows others aren't...

Heck there are stupid people all over the place. Aint no sense in getting worked up. Its my job to see them. Them not me. If that fails get in front of them and toss that 2 inch socket back at em. That will wake em up.

2003FXDX- I dunno if its legal to do that. I would wanna get caught. Someone sent a few rounds my way they just may get a few back. Course I will only need one!
