Sounds to me we had an inexperienced rider, a self absorbed female driver more concerned about her appearance than the life of another and finally a radio personality who doesnt know her azz from her elbow. Just for the helluvit while working yesterday at a home with a stop sign directly in front of it, I watched to see how many people actually stopped. I would estimate 10 out of 100 actually stopped. Some of the others flew through like it wasnt there, others were either on the phone or texting. Bottom line you gotta protect yourself. No one else cares. Too wrapped up in their own little world. Well, the idiot in the car was painting her nails when she decided to blow thru a yellow light. Only problem was the Lady on the motorcycle had stopped for that light. I guess I will watch my mirror for that one. There are so many laws and rule now that restrict our freedoms, but "multi-tasking" while driving needs to be looked at.

The problem with most "Multitasking" drivers out there that I've seen is that they are not competent enough drivers to be able to pull that off. Most of these guys/gals need remedial driver's ed it seems to me. The majority of drivers I encounter are terribly indecisive, and can't figure out where they want to go on the fly.

Just to clarify. My mother did not go through a fresh yellow. Libby has her facts wrong.

There were several cars/witnesses that went through the yellow light before my mother. She was slowing down to stop at the red light as anyone would. She was a very cautious woman but she was not being overly cautious to the point of getting herself killed. Lora Hunt would have run the red light painting her nails the whole way.

Greg,

I am very sorry for your loss. I hope the courts are able to prosecute this woman to the fullest extent. She needs to be taught a lesson. I too have experienced the damage done by careless drivers. Rearended at a light - dislocated hip, torn up knee ligaments and tons of other aches and pains. More recently, caught a left turner 2 blocks from home , he was eating a burger and paying no attention. I payed for that one too. Lost my one and only brother to a DWI driver years back too. I now what your feeling. Once again so sorry for your loss. Your mom seems to be a great and caring person. What a shame. Hang in there. Botz
