Angry American Iron Subscription

Hi,

Highly p-ssed off.... been trying to renew my subscription to AIM since February 2008.

Been in touch with Isola at ihoover@fulcoinc.com she has been sending me copies in the post but said my subscription was OK. Now I find after yet another set of emails that they no longer accept overseas subscriptions.

I feel I haave been givien the bums rush and that this had been mooted some time ago.

I have had this mag for 18 months and love it, now I am stuffed... Is this the case AIM will no longer accept subscriptions from the UK.

If so... Gutted....

Red face International Subscriptions

Brigger:
I'm afraid it is so. American Iron has stopped new overseas subscriptions because the cost is skyrocketing to mail them there each month. I'm sure Buzz will doubtless have a better explanation, but for now, only the U.S. and Canada are eligible for new subscriptions. Individual issues can still be purchased from your local news stands. I am positive no "bum's rush" is involved -- this is a blanket decision.

Brigger.

Believe me when I tell you we do not want to lose any readers, but the cost of shipping copies overseas is out of control and climbing all the time.

When it finally cost us $8 per copy in postage alone to send copies overseas we had to pull the plug.

We are still getting beaten up in climbing postage costs here in the US and in Canada, but we can bear with them, but not overseas.

If you have someone in the US who can receive and forward your copies, that might be a solution. But we can't offer subscriptionas any more outside the US or Canada. And we are not happy with this either.

Default American Iron Subscription

Hi Buzz,

That is a shame, dont underestimate what overseas subscribers will pay. The average UK Motorcycle Mag is £4.50 approx US$9.00. My UK 911 and Porsche World is close on £6.00 or aprox US$12.00 and thats from the newsagents

I would gladly pay $12-15.00 per copy

I might have to cheat and buy back issues.... LOL

Very dissapointed though...

I fully understand your feeling and we will review our decision and see if it makes sense to offer international subscriptions at a price that we at least break even financially.

Our cost of simply shipping one year of issues overseas is at least $96, and that does not include the cost of producing and printing the magazines or managing the subscription files.

Porsche, eh? I am fortunate enough to have a nice old 993 Cab.

Buzz why don’t you PDF your files to a European printer and have them printed and mailed from there?

I have just been told that my subscription is being cancelled. I have read the mag for years and subscribed for the last few as copies are difficult to get over here on a regular basis. Not only will I not get the info inthe articles but will loose the access to your advertisers. Most will sell over the internet to the UK. Are they happy that the ads they pay for are not going to reach any where near the number of potential customers they used to? What i think is so bad is the fact we were not given a choice, just a refund sometime soon. My reaction at the moment is that I will not be reading American Iron ever again!

Buzz that or if the nunbers dont justify that, print them here, label them, box them up, ship them air freight to Europe, then mail them from there.
I am not familiar with EU mailing procedures, you would probably need a mail permit there but a mailer there could set up everything.
Would not even have to be air, just regular freight, even if they were a month or so late would be better than not getting them at all.
Cruiser Steve here in the states.
