Default Extended Warranty

Just sold my scooter and l'm buying a new Street Glide. Would you guys recommend buying the extended warranty?

I've bought them in the past, but I've never used it.

I purchased the extended 5yr Unlimited Mileage Warranty when I ordered my 08 Road King. Since you already have a 2yr Unlimited Mileage Warranty with every new HD you purchase basically your buying for 3 extra years. If you need it down the road it's worth it, if not it's money down the commode. I prefer to have the extra insurance just in case.....

Hey Fat. That would be a personal descision. If you take out a 10 year rec vehicle loan some folks would not like it to break down with no warranty if the loan aint paid off.

How many miles you put on a year? Warrenty expensive? I dunno. Seems you kind of answered your own question.

Its like insurance. You are gambling on if something goes wrong. Most the time it dont. But... Its sure nice to have coverage if it does.

The way I look at it is if it were to your advantage then you would have to ask your salesperson for it but no, they push it on you. That tells me it's to their advantage.

With that being said JC makes a good point in the post above.

Cool

Everything you're SOLD is to the saleperson's and dealership's advantage...it's what they do for a living AND it's the "little-things" (warranties, insurance, financing, accessories, etc) that profit them the most. In fact, some will sell the vehicle for cost OR less..just to sell you on the rest. But,that does'nt necessarilly mean that what's to their advantage is'nt to your advantage, too. Well...not ALL of it,anyhow.

The thing is although most shoppers will haggle over the price of a vehicle..once they get to "paper-signing" and "extras" they tend to lay-down and/or bend-over..rather than haggle there too.

Also depends on what you plan on doing to the bike, if you are going to do any aftermarket exhaust or air cleaner, cams, etc. forget the extended warranty. You will not be covered. Also are you going to do the service work yourself? They are looking for any excuse to void the warranties these days, not like ten years ago.

Default Extended Warranty

Thanks for the feed back. I'm actually going in on Saturday to finalize everything.

I won't be doing the work myself, but will have the exhaust done and lowering the front end by an inch.

Probably end up getting the warranty. If nothing else, I'm the tire warranty will come in handy some time over the next few years.

I believe you can buy the warranty within the time your bike is still under it's original warranty. It might be wise to ask the salesperson. If you can, you can add the 5yrs before the 2yr runs out, just pay attention to your dates.
