Howdy all,
I'm a 'regular' at the CAIMAG forum (and a couple others), but just recently caught wind of this forum, so I thought I'd stop in and look around. I've been ridin' and wrenchin these old bikes since 1974 - - - got an old Panhead chopper (my first Harley, still got it after all these years!), a '77 Shovel (bought it in 1987), a '94 Evo Fatboy (bought it brand spankin new!), and for the last year or so I've been working on restoring a '52 that's turned into quite an interesting project.
I'm no expert, but I do have a lot of years behind me, I've seen an awful lot in 35 years. I'll help when I can, offer some candid opinions if I think it's appropriate, and try not to p!ss anyone off.
Now, .... I'll have to look around................
I've been reading your stuff for a while at www.caimag.com and would have to disagree with you, I find you ARE an expert on much of this. Welcome to the shiny side!

Thanks, Buzz! You just made me smile. That will happen a couple times a week....
Welcome, and glad to have you! Would love to see some pics of all your ride... especially the old panhead.

It is the duty of nations, as well as of men, to own their dependence upon the overruling power of God, to confess their sins and transgressions, in humble sorrow, yet with assured hope that genuine repentance will lead to mercy and pardon; and to recognize the sublime truth announced in the Holy Scriptures and proven by all history, that those nations only are blessed whose God is the LORD. ----Abraham Lincoln

Well right now the '52 is dismantled into all the parts that make up a whole. When I bought it, it had so many problems and incorrect parts on it, it only vaguely resembled a vintage motorcycle. I wasn't really planning on restoring it, but as I removed the dash I found other problems, when I removed the tanks I found other problems, and so on and so on and so forth, and by the time I stopped, it was down to the bare frame!
I joked with my buddies who were all complaining they couldn't find basket-cases any more, and I said Heck, it's easy! Just buy an old bike that needs some work, and VIOLA~ instant basket-case!
Here's a photo of it before I tore it apart; I'm a little embarrassed by it, but this is just how I bought it.
