Hey everyone, no fancy moniker here just call me Dennis. Thought I better check in since I've already done some posting here. I live in the n.w. corner of Ore. in a small town of St. Helens, 30 miles west of Portland. Currently riding an '05 Sporty' 1200 custom, bought it new and it now has over 25k on it. Did the usual exhaust (Python 2 into 1), rejet, airbox (S.E. with K.& N. filter), Mustang seat, & hard mount Daytona leather bags. I did all the work myself except fine tune & dyno work. It's currently putting out 74 horse. Right now it's getting some new powder coat over the chrome, it's a black translucient that is awesome. Yep, doing that myself also, will post some pics of it soon. Future plans are a 3 degree rake tree, fenders, & paint. That's all I can think of for now.

Welcome to the forum, Dennis. Sounds like a great Sportster you've got there, 1 HP per cubic inch is quite a respectable number for an American bike (The Japanese top that but my lands...they rev the poor thing to 10,000 RPM to do it, my vote is for torque and HP down low where you can actually use it in the real world where there are speed limits).
That powder coat over chrome sounds interesting, be sure to post some pictures when it's finished.

Thumbs up Re: New forum member

Welcome aboard, Dennis...glad to have you join us.
I'm a little concerned with your plans to add a raked triple tree to your bike...with no mention of any neck rakeing Because they actually reduce trail and are really only designed to be used in conjunction with raked necks that increase trail. Have you done your "home-work" and thunk this out ??

Welcome,Dennis.
I agree with Ken,you might want to Google "Motorcycle rake & trail calculations" & type in your individual specs before purchasing raked trees.

Hey Guys,
Regarding adding the raked tree, by doing a 3 degree tree it will level out the stance of the Sporty without having to extend the tubes. What I've found so far says it will stay within the rake/trail parameter. One add on I forgot to mention was the 10.5 inch Progressive shocks I did.

John 1:14

It is the duty of nations, as well as of men, to own their dependence upon the overruling power of God, to confess their sins and transgressions, in humble sorrow, yet with assured hope that genuine repentance will lead to mercy and pardon; and to recognize the sublime truth announced in the Holy Scriptures and proven by all history, that those nations only are blessed whose God is the LORD.
