Default Hello from Rio de Janeiro Brasil

Hi!

I'm 43 years old biker from Finland who has ended up in Rio de Janeiro. I have a 2008 FXD.

Riding here is very different due the traffic and bad condition of the streets, but I'm still loving it.

Only downside is local Harley dealer who doesn't give a s**t.

Bad traffic, bad roads, dealer who doesn't give a ****, I guess some things never change no matter where you live! Welcome to the forum.

Hey Karibo...Welcome to the board!

I was just in your neck of the woods not to long ago. Had a pretty decent time there in Rio. Spent a lot of time at Copacabana and Inpanema (sp?) beach. Walked around the city quite a bit, too. What do you ride? I saw a nice black Fat Boy and a Night Rod while I was there. Didn't make it to the stealer while I was there. Had plans of going, but one of my buddies went and said his selection in T's sucked and they ran about 50 U.S. Not paying that much for a Harley Shirt to say Rio on it.

From the traffic I witnessed I will say you are a very very brave soul to ride in that crazy place. One of the guys I ran with while I was there rides, too, and we both agreed that we would not ride there. In an essence I guess it really isn't any worse than SoCal rush hour traffic.

Again, Welcome and hope to see you on the board!

Thank you for all!!!!

As I already mentioned in my first post, I ride Dyna Superglide. I've been here for about 5 years and of those I've been riding here with different bikes for about 3. In the beginning the traffic was terrible, but if you have reflexes of Formula 1 driver you'll survive.

Just some general stuff about how things go here. We have 2 kinds of HD owners (like everywhere else I guess). Us, who travel around and use the bike practically everyday and then those others who use bike on Saturday and Sunday, if it is not raining.

There is a breakfast in local dealer every Saturday, but I'm too busy to put some kilometers on my meter.

I completely agree that the T shirts in local dealer are a complete RIP OFF. Also those shirts are worst possible quality. NOBODY I know ever has bought them nor wore. There is quite a strong movement against the local dealer and we are actually hoping that HD will take over the business.
We are having problems with getting basic spareparts, like brake pads, tires, air-and oilfilters etc. from local dealer. If we need anything we need to import most of the stuff and it takes time and is very expensive....

Anyway, as I said there is a silver lining on the cloud... when we take off to some destination with a nice train of 50 - 100 bikes, sun shining and no worry what so ever.... there is nothing better!

My bad man I completely read past where you posted what you rode! I read the rest of it, but for whatever reason I didn't read/see that part...
