Default New From Bakersfield

I like the forum and signed up today. I enjoy seeing and talking about Harleys.
I am planning on buying an older Road King and fixing it up and doing some mods here and there to it. My current ride is an '06 FXDB and I have warmed it up some and done a few things to the chassis.

Welcome to the American Iron Harley Forum family and good luck with that Road King. Lots of clever people here might be able to give you suggestions on what and how if you need any.

Buzz,
Looks like I double punched. I thought I had lost one and did another thread. Sorry. I don't know how I have missed this website so long. I had been buying American Iron at the newsrack. I went on line to finally subscribe and that is when I learned about the website. I have had a chance to snoop around and it looks great. I can see a lot of members are just like me. They love Harleys and like to tinker. That would describe me pretty well.

Welcome to the site...I'm sure you have, but definitely check craigslist for bikes. I went through all of the ads for Harleys for sale here in San Diego County. There are some smokin' deals out there right now, at least in this area.

I know. Even Eagleriders has some decent prices on '08 RKs. I figure to find something pretty soon. November has always been a good month if you are on the buying end. I'll never part with my Dyna though. I want both.

RickyBobby-Most of these people are all over Harleys like paint on a fence. I have yet to have a question I could not get answered. The funny thing about it is that sometimes each person will have a different take on the same problem. It's not that one answer is right or better than another answer. It just gives you something else to look at. I've spent the last 10 years reading every subscription and book I could find on Harleys. I spent and spend considerable time just generally researching all things Harley on the internet. I've learned a lot. But these black belts (as I call them) in all things Harley know what they are talking about. Frisco-Rigid rates right up there in terms of knowledge and being helpful.

You'll like this board. I do. If you don't talk s*(% or brag about how great you are, you will be accepted into the family. Otherwise expect to be avoided like the black plague!
Honestly, I consider myself fortunate to be a part of this great group of riders. It's just another part of my Harley adventure!

Humble bow,

KempoMark

Initially I was going to buy a salvage bike and restore it. I even bought a password that provided me with hundreds of web links to places that handled salvages. In doing so I ran across this place called chopperexchange.com. It's free. You type in the bike you want, where you want to buy it from and how much you want to spend. It finds all the bikes in their listing with your specific requirements. That's how I found my bike. Lots and lots of dealers as well as private party people list bikes on there. ***FREE***

Kempomark, thanks so much for the address to the chopper exchange. There are so many bikes on there I got blurry eyed and had to take a break. I will keep checking that site a bunch. I saw a lot of fair prices and some that were way out in left field. I'll hone in on ones within my area and see what I can come up with. Much appreciated. It doesn't look like I need a password though.
