Default Pump reads $2.03/gallon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Looks can be deceiving: http://www.nytimes.com/2008/05/29/ny...ITBART&ei=5123
In case link fails:
"For a brief moment on Wednesday morning, the gas pump at Gary Staiano’s Texstar service station in Bellerose, Queens, turned into a time machine. After 11.3 gallons was pumped into a Pontiac Grand Am, the meter read $23, or $2.03 a gallon, a price not seen in more than three years.

Then Mr. Staiano transported his customer back to reality when he doubled the total at the cash register. "

Kind of kin to what happened in the 70's. A lot of the old pumps were made at a time when people couldn't imagine gasoline ever costing a dollar a gallon. They would set the pump at say 65 per and have a hand written sign..price per half gallon.
Wow, how times have changed.

It is against the law for that to happen - the pump must show the correct price - here in Southern New York - there is a 24 hr number to call to report the offender......

Man the pumps out here haven't been lying....I can't get over the "sticker shock" when it reads $4.17 a gallon for 87 and that's on base. Most places out in town start between $4.19 to $4.29 for 87.

Even though he was allowed to charge by the half gallon $4.06 is a decent price IMO.
