Default ball allen wrench

can anyone help me find this tool,i went to a harley dealership today and bought a passenger floor board kit,but in order to take off the old floor board,i need to use a tool called a ball hex wrench(because of where the hex screw is located to remove the floor board, the wrench an not go in straight).someone in the service department showed me the tool that i would need and said that i could find it at any auto parts store or hardware store, the problem is that one that they showed me,the hex ball on the end pivots, but the ones that i found in the stores do not,so,i'm not sure if the ones that i saw in the stores will work?can someone please tell me the proper toll i will need to change out the floorboards?

Hey there .....2007

The ball-hex allens that I have and virtually all hardware, auto parts and places like Lowes and Sears carry,, all have a ball shaped hex on the long end but it does not swivel,, instead it allows you to kinda sorta swivel the angle of the tool to access the fastener..

If the tools you saw, in the store you went to, does not have a ball-hex end then you are correct,, it will not allow you to swivel it..

I don't think I mis-understood your question or did I.. Let me know..

Good man,,, wanting to do the work yourself,, Yeah baby..!

Without seeing the wrench that the machanic showed you I am assuming that it only hinged back and forth, with a ball end allen on it's tip.
Such a tool makes for quick work in the maintenance industry.
A typical "L" shaped ball allen will work just fine for your application. A word of caution though, do NOT break loose any fastner or tighten with the ball end! The straight allen on the short side of the allen wrench is strong enough to do the loosning and tightening. The ball end is weak from being cut into a ball shape and the ball can snap off easily.

Default Ball end

I have alot of job specific tools created over the years. With a propane torch and a vise you can do creative bending. You can buy individual allen wrenches from Ace hardware and cut off part of the L section to get into tight spots.

Right on Wrightturn!! I have made some really strange looking tools that are just perfect for the job. You gotta have a vise and a torch.
