Angry Time to prepare the battle axe....

One day at work I was joking around with one of my Marines telling him I was going to buy a tactical tomahawk and strap it to my leg when I ride to keep those in their cages (that have no respect for those of us who like to ride) in check.

I don't know if I'm joking so much anymore; I decided to go for a ride this evening after the wife returned from getting her hair done and grocery shopping. Well me being in a hurry to go for a ride forgot that it was Friday @ 5 in Southern California. Traffic everywhere, the interstate was backed up, Pacific Coast Highway backed, just absolutely ridiculous! PCH is where I like to ride and I swear everytime I roll down PCH at least 2 if not more a****les have to honk, and it's not the friendly hey nice bike, I ride too, honk. It's that one where they try to catch you off guard and scare you.

IT P***ES ME OFF TO NO END!

It happened to me twice today. The second time it was a woman in her late 50's early 60's by herself. Not ruling out that she doesn't ride or like bikes, but when you go by in 90,000 mercedes and do it you are just trying to facetious. Immediately after she did, we both hit traffic and she was probably 20 yards down the road from me. I started to kill the bike and park it to walk down and "chat" with her, but I figured I probably wouldn't get much out of it except for more anger.

Does this happen to you all often if ever?

Maybe I'm lookingo to much into it, but I don't think so. As I've gotten older I've learned to control my temper, but there are certain that things that will cause me to explode and that is one of them.

Un

I did all my commuting on my sickles-- often up to 144 miles a day in the crazy SF Bay Area commute and I never gave that crap a second thought..

Especially on the ride home-- I was looking for that first cold Miller after the gym baby, I had no time for dickheads,, unless,, THEY wanted to make it personal and they never did, imagine..

Be cool daddio

evo- I hear what your saying and you're right. Kind of like when someone is mad and you just laugh at them, just makes them more mad.

frisco- You kill me man...I don't think many of them would want to make it personal. If they did then I'm sure they'd be man enough to step out of their protective barrier vice staying in and honking.

Like I said it just p***es me off. So I'm under the assumption it happens elsewhere, too. Where I grew up you never seen anything like that. The first few times it took me by surprise, now I just expect it.

Doesn't happen much, but it happens. It has lots of different forms. The most annoying was when I was still pretty wet behind the cylinders and on a ride from D.C. to Hershey, PA. It was well after dark, and some joker decided to ride a few feet off my rear bumper with his brights on. And for no apparent reason whatsoever. It was really kinda scary at the time.

John 1:14

It is the duty of nations, as well as of men, to own their dependence upon the overruling power of God, to confess their sins and transgressions, in humble sorrow, yet with assured hope that genuine repentance will lead to mercy and pardon; and to recognize the sublime truth announced in the Holy Scriptures and proven by all history, that those nations only are blessed whose God is the LORD.

When this sh*t happens, and it does all too often if you ride alot, do your cussin, get it off your chest and move on. Don't let it get you into trouble, the asshats will not learn when confronted. That's why they're asshats. A contest between a bike and a cage - the cage will win. Forgiveness is ok - give yourself time to cool off.

Great advice, Fender.

People around these parts are very respectful compared to were you are now. Most people carry and most people assume that. When I lived in that sort of situation, I would go to a meeting with other combat vets to unload. Otherwise, no good will come from those feelings. We take care of our own, Semper Fi brother and don't give those pilgrims a second thought.
