Wow....I've been busier than a one legged man in an a$$ kicking contest here lately trying to get things ready to head for a while.
When I get the chance to sit down and digest all of this I'll be back with a more in depth response. Sorry to start a post and not be able to participate.
Steelrider- Everyone is entitle to their opinion. Post up man, no reason to delete them. You've got the right to be heard....whether it's for or against someone elses belief.
BTW- I have nothing against a one legged man or him participating in an a$$ kicking contest.

Notice that this is going on world wide. Don't be surprised if you wake up one morning and the whole world has the same monetary system.
ShovelMike, I never knew the whole quote from Kruschev. I learn something new, to me, everyday. Thanks

I would HOPE that Paulson sees a greater responsibility now that he is chairman of the FED... but my faith in bureaucrats is minimal.
I think a bail-out is a band-aid on a deluge. The market will sink, stabilize, and begin to rise again all on its own. AIG I could tolerate and even understand a little... I ain't so sure about this one.
There is no doubt that this is the perfect storm. It was time for a recession anyway. Add thanks to some very foolish and greedy corporate behavior we're talking DEEP recession.
Now... add an election year to this where there is a LOT at stake in the outcome, and we have one of the most politicized issues since the war in Iraq. The government WILL do something. It is the way of the beast. Social politics and programs have PROGRAMMED the American people to look to big government for answers when the slightest thing goes wrong. If someone doesn't fix it, the outcry will be rediculous.
I am not at all happy about picking up the tab for this, but something IS going to happen. I think the current situation, with prime players from both parties meeting at the White House to figure out how to do this responsibly, is probably the best bet in a world of crappy bets. I just hope, no... PRAY, that they are taking this seriously and not just thinking about party politics and how to make the other guy look bad.
That does seem to be all their good at these days, though.

John 1:14
It is the duty of nations, as well as of men, to own their dependence upon the overruling power of God, to confess their sins and transgressions, in humble sorrow, yet with assured hope that genuine repentance will lead to mercy and pardon; and to recognize the sublime truth announced in the Holy Scriptures and proven by all history, that those nations only are blessed whose God is the LORD. ----Abraham Lincoln
I ain't the biggest fan the Bush administration ever had, but that's just silly. It's easy to turn the administration into the anti-christ. Heck, they're an easy target... but you have to suspend disbelief and use a LOT of imagination to do it. Be rational and don't believe every blog you read.
#1 Blue Bob you didn't get all of my post in your post and #2 nowhere in my post did I refer to this administration as the antichrist and I would not even pretend that it is. Read the book of Revelation in the bible, it's the last book in the King James version. Then you might understand why it is not. This forum isn't the place for that discussion. This administration is greedy as well as the Congress as a whole, and that sir is why I feel the way that I do; and if you would pull out some old newspapers or magazines (they are available at your local library) you would see what I mean. Those aren't BLOGS they are news from reputable journalists. We as Americans need to get rid of all of the folks on the hill and start over with citizens that have to work 3 jobs to make ends meet or 12 hours a day 6 days a week at 1 job. In other words folks that work for a living and appreciate the value of a dollar and don't mind telling you so. It may not be feasable to not bail out these idiot bankers and inusrance folks but I don't feel that your and my tax dollars should have to go up out of sight to make it happen.
