evo- Good to hear from ya! From day one I was always told to by my NCO's not to volunteer for anything only bad things would come of it, crappy duties and what not. When I was younger in the corps it always seemed to pay out. It seems like the more rank I put on and I try to do the right thing (whether to better myself, my career or both) it always bites me in a$$. I'm hoping one day the wife will punch me in the face and make me pay for some of this crap.

Things are tracking for the most part. I've got to teach some of the Navy officers that a Gunnery Sergeant of Marines can handle his own business and to stay out of it; that if and when I need them for some more horsepower I'll let them know. I am not the type to be micromanaged. All that does is pi$$ me off and make me dig my heels in, then I won't do anything until I'm good ready.

EZE- You've nailed it man. I'm stoked to have my bike with me. In the beginning it was looking like I wouldn't be able to bring it with me. I took it out for a short ride this evening. There are a couple of other guys here with sporty's. We're talking about getting together for a ride. When I pulled into the parking lot I thought I was the lone ranger; I seen a lot of sport bikes and the bigger suzuki's, but no American Iron. On another note, holy crap there's a lot of bugs out here. Good to hear from you as well, I'm glad to be back on the board.

Hey,UFB
I had to look up Pascagoula,to get an idea where you're at. Yeah and although it's a long ways from where I spent some time at Ft.Polk LA decades ago I've got to imagine that the area you're in now has got to be pretty similar..just plain incredible IMO for riding/exploring. Be sure to get over to "Na-or-luns" and "da-bah-yoo" areas for a few days if/when you can.

Diseaseville on "Trainee Street",etc...Leesville most other areas

Only passed thru Rosepine & DeRidder the few times enroute to Lake Charles for Triumh MC parts..no tickets there..but out ran & lost the State Troopers once when I had no plates on the bike gotta LOVE those Pine Trees..and logging trails..and how simple it is to repaint an MC gas tank on a bike that ONLY had that TO repaint other than all the other black stuff.with stainless steel fenders

Most of the fun guys in my company down there would head for Ville-Platte to "partee"..long ride/drive,but worth it..if you had the next day to recover. Oh,yeah..and like some of the guys,I lived off-post at Ellis Trailer Park (towed my own trailer down) so recovery was much easier...and the bike "just-fit" in the trailer (after removing a few things) to take home when I finally ETS'd with that "short-timers-tude"

Using a garmin Zumo 550 - the travel times are right on the money...never has been a problem - well worth the money. I never let my debt card out of my sight - I don't use it in restaurants - I don't let anyone hold it while I pump gas - nothing....to much can happen...I use credit cards - the problem is when you use a debt card at a gas station they will hold the pending transaction at $100.00 until the charge comes through....if you are traveling and use the card let's say 5 times in a day for 3 days - that is $1500.00 they are holding in your account......just some lessons I have learned....

365/24/7 - I don't have to worry about storing my bike.
