Angry Identity Thieves....

are some of the most worthless people that walk on the face of the earth.

I have had my identity stolen twice in my life. Once when I was 19 and just this past Oct 1st. The first time I received a bill for $30,000 and finally 6 years later after it wreaked havoc on my credit report and score it was cleared up. This past time I lost nothing, because I caught it before any of the charges went through. The only way I caught it is my bank card kept getting denied and knowing what my account balance was I knew it was crap and something was wrong. So I called the bank and they told me that someone was using my debit at a bed, bath and beyond in New Jersey. I laughed told them I was in Miss. and my wife was in Arkansas. So they turned off the card and sent me a new one, but I have yet to receive it.

Well yesterday I call my bank to find out about my debit card and I had a question about my credit card that I had with them. So I log on to my accounts they come up and all my money is there. I call the bank and they are closed. I did some work and then called them back an hour or two later. Well when I bring up my accounts all of my money is gone. So I log out and log back in to make sure I somehow to log into someone else account. It was my accounts, I open the account that was missing the money and see some charges to Tractor Supply Co. Some freakin' scumbag was using my wife's debit card this time. This piece of work cleaned out my checking account. My bank said I would have my money in 5-7 days.

I call TSC and talk to their Sr. Risk Management guy. His response made me want to jump through phone and stomp a mud hole in his @$$. I told him what happened and his response verbatim was, "yeah, and..." Wrong answer to someone who just had all their money stolen from them. He informed me it was their store policy to not check ID's when someone was using a credit card, because it may offend them. SCREW THAT.... He also informed me they had the exact same problem the day before, also. Man if that doesn't send up a red flag I don't know what would. Well of course they want to ensure that they get their money so their not canceling charges. This guy was such a prick and someone they shouldn't have in a position like. He really offered no help and no real solution, except to file a police report.

I don't know where in past month my wife and I have gone wrong. The only thing I can think of is the moving company that packed up our house helped themselves to some of our files and are selling the information on the east coast.

Be careful everyone you never when the scumbags are watching and just waiting to snag your personal info.

Gunny- Who be the company that your card was through. I have had my Credit Card number used a few times by other than myself usally online. Both places Chase and Wells fargo took care of it with no ill affects to me.

If the card is swiped before you recieve and activated it. The person whom took it should not be able to use it. The card should be denied" electronically" when they pass it through the reader at the store. Some of the Finance companies have bad policy and rotten technology.

Just have a different sort of thieves now a days..........

Know of anyone else who had issues after they used the same moving company as you?

Angry Debit Card fraud.

A couple years ago I got a call from my bank questioning some unusual activity on my debit card. Among other things..whoever was using my info had tried to purchase Auto Ins. on their car with it, in my name.

I never bothered to follow up on it. Because,I was content enough that my money was saved..and since it was up to the merchants involved (not my bank) to prosecute,it would have been a real pain in the @$$ for me to get involved. But if they could'nt trace the bad guys back to the VIN they had to furnish..I figure the good guys/cops are more incompetent than the bad guys. Which around here is'nt all that far fetched...believe me !!

I use USAA Federal Savings Bank. They are an awesome company, we bank with them, have our insurance through them, and I have a credit card with them. They have never done me wrong until this time, but they redeemed themselves today. The wife called and they moved our fraud claim to the front, because of the financial hardship this would cause due to the fact that my income is the only income for the household and that was my entire check.

I don't know of anyone else who has used this company. They were contracted through TMO, so I'm sure multiple military families have used them. I was in Mississippi by the time they showed to pack us out.

On another note it looks like you found a place to call home. Are things finally starting to turn around for the better?

My wife watches our bank balance on-line...which I was not crazy about. She can call me in the afternoon and ask me how my lunch was, knowing where I used the debit card to eat! Up to the minute and this is what saved our bacon.

See called me one morning and asked what I had used my debit card on that cost .98 cents. You have got to be kidding me. I don't know of a place that will swipe a card for a purchase under a buck I told her. She said that there was a .98 cent charge from a couple of hours ago. Nope, must be a mistake. The merchant was listed as H&H...what the hell?

A couple of hours go by and she calls me back and asks about a 450 dollar purchase...no way! In less than an hour later a 900 dollar purchase and by the way, we are now broke.

She gets on the blower to the bank and raises hell. She goes down there and the bank officer tells her that it is a common thing. The .98 cent purchase was a test to see if it was an active account. The two subsequent purchases escalated in amount to drain the account quickly...a common thing!

By the time I got home from work our money was back in the account. A few weeks went by and we got some paperwork in the mail to fill out to prosecute. There were three cash register receipts attached that were in Chinese...really, Chinese...and they had my signature forged on them.

This happened a couple of years ago and i never heard another thing about it.

I have racked my mind to see who or how this could have happened...who knows?
My wife never really monitors our accounts. It's usually me. I usually check them at least twice a day. I like to know where my money is going and with my family being split apart I monitor it more closely, not because I don't trust my wife but our cards our more widely used.

That is no doubt. It's to damn bad it works out that way. Heck, the amount of detainee handling we had to go through to handle caught terrorist was unreal. My opinion was if they gave up...shoot 'em anyways. Less taxpayer dollars wasted.

Life can be hard enough to get through without the added stress of these lowlife scammers messing with us.
The only thing I know is you should never let your credit card out of your sight, such as in a restaurant when they walk away with your card to run it through the machine. They can also write down the number or swipe it into their own device to use later.

On my trip to Sturgis, this year, we spent the night in Rawlins, Wy. Used my card to pay for dinner and a few brews. When I got the end of the month statement, someone at the dinner had used my card numbers a few days later for about $30. I called the card company and they remitted the cost. If this scumbag does this to ten people a week, and they don't catch it, the dirt bag makes bank by the end of the year.

I've got a good one.

Back in late '89 or early '90, I had one of those fancy/dancy credit cards that has your picture on the front of it. I don't even know if they still do that or not.

Anyway ... my wallet got stolen when I was at the YMCA, and the dirt bag that lifted my wallet used my credit card, with the picture on it, before I had the chance to report it missing. A merchant accepted my card, not even noticing that the "gentleman" using my card was of a different ethnic background than the picture on the card showed.

I got the charges removed from my card, had the jerk prosecuted, and I never returned to that retailer again.
