Default Does anyone else find this frustrating?

When looking for parts, you're searching the internet high and low, going through all your back issues of mags you have laying around, you pull out all or your catalogs and are swamped by books. You spend hours trying to find what your looking for, page after page of parts, reading, making sure the part is for your model, but it's not....so back to the hunt. Done with one catalog, on to the next and then one after that. BAM....it smacks you in the face, it was in the catalog that you had initially thought it was in, you switch up the key words your were searching under, you were almost through the all those mags you had. You feel a slight release of pressure and stress. You do a little more skimming, check out similar other parts again to make sure they will work for your scoot. You finally find the ones that fits, then you go to check the price and.......wait for it, there's no stinking price only a phone or a small footnote; only available through authorized dealers!

What gives? I get so damn frustrated when it comes to this and it's not the digging or searching for it, but no freaking price or only that small footnote. Are their prices classified? Are they so ashamed they have their products marked so high that they don't want to advertise the price? Does it cost that much more to put the price under the description?

Two companies come to mind right away and I'm sure there's many more out there. I won't mention names....S&S, JIM'S.

Sorry had to rant....I was doing some research on some project ideas and I'm one of those guys that likes to build a parts list and include prices on it, and get the final total so I can plan for what I need to spend or ensure I have everything covered before I start the project or start talking to a shops. I don't know, maybe it comes from a being a logistics guy and having million dollar budgets, having to do costs analysis and getting multiple quotes to let the boss know what we're going to spend, what we have to spend or what we need to spend.

Well now i know it isn't just me.
Hang in there, Go for a ride, and just know you are not the only one out there wasting valuable riding time researching to a dead end.

Good luck

And then I have another thought, Maybe they have what I call "Variable Pricing"

They have a price for "dealers" and "regular customers" and finally "New Customers"..... just guessing here.

I was at a swap meet once and I asked the "how much you want for that", the guy just says how much would you offer? I told him that if he didnt know, then surely I didnt know. I finally offered $5 for a big ticket item. people overheard me and the next few guys he gave that response and said the same thing I did....and offered him $5. it was funny, he finnaly got himself all worked up that everyone was offering him only $5 for really good items that he packed up and left. I remember I really wanted what he had, but it was way more fun to get the guy worked up. i tend to stir up trouble everywhere I go

so back to the point. They must want to get people to call them for the price, not knowing that people like me will just delete the page and move on to the company and product that HAS a price on it.

But like you says, I dont mind doing the research, but it would really help if they put the cost on it when you finnaly find what you are looking for.

Order something from Dennis Kirk and get their print catalog. First off, it's like the old Sears-Roebuck, giganormous, and more fun to look at. Second, it has S&S prices in it. I think S&S just don't want their prices on the net. Go figure.
I love that freakin' catalog

I've had DK catalogs before, but at those times the S&S stuff I wanted wasn't in there. I.E. the tuned flow AC

yaeh it upsets me too. if i wanted to call or check my local dealer. i wouldn't be online or looking through their catalouge. J&P has prices as well as Jireh and Canyon run. i only but from people who list their prices. i don't know about everyone else but J&P may be a little higher but their shipping time is great. i will have to order me a Dennis Kirk amd check it out. good info
