When looking for parts, you're searching the internet high and low, going through all your back issues of mags you have laying around, you pull out all or your catalogs and are swamped by books. You spend hours trying to find what your looking for, page after page of parts, reading, making sure the part is for your model, but it's not....so back to the hunt. Done with one catalog, on to the next and then one after that. BAM....it smacks you in the face, it was in the catalog that you had initially thought it was in, you switch up the key words your were searching under, you were almost through the all those mags you had. You feel a slight release of pressure and stress. You do a little more skimming, check out similar other parts again to make sure they will work for your scoot. You finally find the ones that fits, then you go to check the price and.......wait for it, there's no stinking price only a phone or a small footnote; only available through authorized dealers!
What gives? I get so damn frustrated when it comes to this and it's not the digging or searching for it, but no freaking price or only that small footnote. Are their prices classified? Are they so ashamed they have their products marked so high that they don't want to advertise the price? Does it cost that much more to put the price under the description?
Two companies come to mind right away and I'm sure there's many more out there. I won't mention names....S&S, JIM'S.
Sorry had to rant....I was doing some research on some project ideas and I'm one of those guys that likes to build a parts list and include prices on it, and get the final total so I can plan for what I need to spend or ensure I have everything covered before I start the project or start talking to a shops. I don't know, maybe it comes from a being a logistics guy and having million dollar budgets, having to do costs analysis and getting multiple quotes to let the boss know what we're going to spend, what we have to spend or what we need to spend.
