Been away a while. Just checking into my new command in San Diego. So... no that I'm wondering if anyone can tell me:
1. Some great day rides in the area
2. How necessary is it to get my bike re-tuned for sea level, and how quickly should I do it. Spoke to the stealership and they said it was no big deal.
Any ideas would be swell. Joined the local HOG chapter today. Seems like a really good chapter.

It is the duty of nations, as well as of men, to own their dependence upon the overruling power of God, to confess their sins and transgressions, in humble sorrow, yet with assured hope that genuine repentance will lead to mercy and pardon; and to recognize the sublime truth announced in the Holy Scriptures and proven by all history, that those nations only are blessed whose God is the LORD. ----Abraham Lincoln
I lived down there for a few years. The weather is just off the charts nice. One great ride is along the Pacific Coast Highway (Hwy 1) from San Diego up to Oceanside. Lots of great little places to eat and shop especially from Del Mar to Leucadia. Your significant other will love the ride and you along with it for taking her. The ocean views along the way are spectacluar.
If you want to go inland the Northeast hill villages like Julian and Temecula are poplular places to cruise to. I've heard that the police in some of those little bergs really don't like loud bikes so keep that in mind.
Welcome back Blue. I wish I could help you with San Diego rides but, I was behind a fence next to the airport most of the time I was there. I think your EFI should be able to compensate for sea level if you have one of those. If you are carbed, get back with Frisco. I have no doubt he will have the solution.

Welcom back, I got one of each, EFI and Carb bikes. I ride sea level to 6000 ft and more. the EFI of course takes care of itself,. the carb needs adjustment when I get up there in altitude. I am in the SF Bay Area, so if ya head this way, let me know.

Correction on one ride- I said Mountain Center and Ramona are nice rides also. I should have said Valley Center to Ramona and back to Deigo.
Mountain Center would be on the Idyllwild (This is the Correct spelling) run.
I reread what I wrote last night and thought that's not right I think it is Valley Center so I asked my bride who grew up in SOCAL and she corrected me.
When you want to make a run out here in the desert give me a call and we can meet up and make a run. The Prison Run in Yuma which goes on April 17-19 is a good run. You tour the Old Territorial Prison and there are lots of places to ride and things to do. Lots of camping at the fair grounds which is ground zero for the run and Bobby's Territorial Harley has a lot going on.
Of course there is Arizona Bike Week March 27-April 5. Events all over the state. Let me know if you want to hook up for a weekend ride out this way.
Bike is 2007 so EFI, and I had it just over 6k feet at my last duty station. No residing at about 60 ft. Air is crazy thick down here.
