I've tried dealing with the idiots at the credit card co once a week or so for the last 6 months. They give me BS about not having a hardship program that "fits my situation", or their computer system is down, or something. So now I get a letter saying their going to look into searching for any properties I own, including the bike.
I need to get the bike out of my name. I need the best way to get it done. I have a Bro-in-law and a great friend that will "buy" my bike, and I can trust them. I didn't just pay the bike off a couple months ago after years of payments just to lose it to these *******s.
Trying not to go bankrupt, but starting to not see any other option. The Gov of NY ( in one of his rare good ideas) signed a bill to extend unemployment benefit for another 13 weeks, so that's a relief as the wife's benefits were about to run out in June. So now she'll be able to study to be the medical biller/coder she's been working on.
Dang man I wish I could give you some advice. Transferring anything you own outright to another (very trustworthy) person, like your brother-in-law, is probably a good place to start. As long as he "buys" it I don't believe there is anything illegal about that.
As far as creditors are concerned I've learned most of these guys are jackass' and unwilling to help. In the military we have the soldier/sailor civil relief act and it darn near takes another act of congress for them to even consider dropping or freezing our interest rates. Throughout some financial tribulations I've been through I've learned that actual banks/credit unions are more willing to work with you. Is it possible to maybe pull a debt consolidation loan and pay off your creditors. It will at least buy you some time before your first payment to the bank is due. Not a real viable solution, but a start.
In all sincerity best of luck and I hope things work out for you!

Can you put a friends name on the title along with yours?

A lawyer told us that the sooner a TOTAL Registered Change of Title is done the less legal recourse the creditors have IF they even find out..
In-other-words---- If it is determined that you did it just to skirt the creditors the court may find against you..
That is why the Longest period of time that goes by between the "transaction" and the creditors dropping the hammer the better..
A couple of transactions would even be better,,, like to a "stranger" then perhaps to a family member..
And he said it as a "hypothetical" cuz it woulda been Illegal for him, an officer of the court, to give advise enabling a "slip n slide" around anothers rights..
Another thing---- this thread is a possible trail that could destroy all your best laid plans..
Perhaps you should Delete it as soon as possible..

Please join me in this prayer daily.
This is my Granddaughter Sky, age 7. Can't walk, talk, or feed herself but look at that smile. Anyone care to complain about their lot in life? Not me![IMG][/IMG]
I am sorry to hear of the trouble you are experiencing,
and, Yeah, What Frisco said!
My wife and I did exactly the same thing for my Brother in law a while back... we bought the Harley from him... put it in her name, AND our address. I think the wife even insured it in her name too.... Now the dust has settled.. he bought it back and all is well.
as far as the credit cards go.. I was self employed a few years back and got a bit.. uh.. behind.. so I went thru a credit card counseler program that got the intrest eliminated or at least lowered. It took 6 years, but I avoided bank rupsy and now have good credit again.
If you want more details.. send me a PM and I can go into a bit more detail.
