Default The Letter.

Some folks just do not get what our servicemen and women do or sacrifice for this country so we can live the way we do. These people need to pack a bag and head on out and develope their own place to whine and Bitch. An Island that we do missle testing and bombing runs comes to mind.....Jeeze ungrateful bastards!

Luke AFB is west of Phoenix and is rapidly being surrounded by civilization that complains about the noise from the base and its planes, forgetting that it was there long before they were. A certain lieutenant colonel at Luke AFB deserves a big pat on the back. Apparently, an individual who lives somewhere near Luke AFB wrote the local paper complaining about a group of F-16s that disturbed his/her day at the mall.

When that individual read the response from a Luke AFB officer, it must Have stung quite a bit.

The complaint:
'Question of the day for Luke Air Force Base:

Whom do we thank for the morning air show? Last Wednesday, at precisely 9:11 A.M, a tight formation of four F-16 jets made a low pass over Arrowhead Mall, continuing west over Bell Road at approximately 500 feet. Imagine our good fortune! Do the
Tom Cruise-wannabes feel we need this wake-up call, or were they trying to impress the cashiers at Mervyns early bird special?

Any response would be appreciated.

The response:

Regarding 'A wake-up call from Luke's jets' On June 15, at precisely 9:12 a.m., a perfectly timed four- ship fly by of F-16s from the 63rd Fighter Squadron at Luke Air Force Base flew over the grave of Capt. Jeremy Fresques. Capt Fresques was an Air Force officer who was previously stationed at Luke Air Force Base and was killed in Iraq on May 30, Memorial Day.

At 9 a. m. on June 15, his family and friends gathered at Sunland Memorial Park in Sun City to mourn the loss of a husband, son and friend. Based on the letter writer's recount of the fly by, and because of the jet noise, I'm sure you didn't hear the 21-gun salute, the playing of taps, or my words to the widow and parents of Capt. Fresques as I gave them their son's flag on behalf of the President of the United States and all those veterans and servicemen and women who understand the sacrifices they have endured..

A four-ship fly by is a display of respect the Air Force gives to those who give their lives in defense of freedom. We are professional aviators and take our jobs seriously, and on June 15 what the letter writer witnessed was four officers lining up to pay their ultimate respects.

The letter writer asks, 'Whom do we thank for the morning air show? The 56th Fighter Wing will make the call for you, and forward your thanks to the widow and parents of Capt Fresques, and thank them for you, for it was in their honor that my pilots flew the most honorable formation of their lives.

Only 2 defining forces have ever offered to die for you....Jesus Christ and the American Soldier.
One died for your soul, the other for your freedom.

Lt. Col. Grant L. Rosensteel, Jr.

USAF

A Patriot, a Conservative, would have been proud to see and hear the Fly-By even if he/she didn't know the reason for it..
Only a piss-ant Democrat hypocritical piece a crap Pinko-Commie Liberal woulda complained,,,,,,,, jeeeeze, and folk wonder why I Detest Liberals, nothing lower..!!!

Ooooh Man,,,, I hate when this happens.....................

I jumped outa hatred for my perception of Liberals, which will never change, but darn-it, I shoulda gone that one teeesny step further and checked it out..

I went to 2 "Truth or Fiction" sites and found that yes indeed the letter is real but the embarrassed response by the writer has Not been so widely revealed.. The guy was still a dick-head for complaining but now he might think twice..

Go to this link on Snopes and read the real story, some names have been switched by accident, but gosh,, the whole tale should be known..

"This was just an uninformed citizen complaining about noise".....

Hmmm...there's that word uninformed again (as in w/o a clue) and coming from an Ex-Sailor who served in Vietnam,no less.

Meanwhile gotta wonder why a guy would find himself writing a sarcastic letter VS one of inquiry to the Air Force over what was apparently an isolated incident VS some chronic noise issue. These are the kind of uninformed and/or misinformed people who start rumors and/or spread false information,etc... no better (worse in fact) than guys who share their misgivings here...'cept that here things get corrected pronto before going too far.

My bust! I also did not verify the story myself.

A veteran that is not familiar with a Flyby? Someone moves next to an Airbase and now bitches about the noise?

What I think is we got a Weiner Pinko Commie...What Frisco said who caught some heat for the letter he had written. Now after he been spanked he came back with a sob story to save face. Jut my thought.

Myself also being a veteran and serving this fine country knows for a fact that
some Weiner Pinko Commies....What Frisco said, Made it into the armed forces. Some were looking for a free place to get fed and to be housed. College money. Court ordered. They did not hold their salt. They bitched and moaned while they were in. Their lack of testinal fortitude and liberal beliefs got good men hurt and a few killed. Veterans they were by definition. They are not by heart. Big differance!

These guys were the first to turn tail and run leaving their buddies when the fight was on. These are the same ones that were put in command and used their Idiotic Liberal belief system to the extent where good folks were put into unneeded situations and life was lost..........

Yeah I have some dislike for a few so called veterans. Anyone can claim to be one........Are they truly??

Hey JC
After reading your and frisco's last posts I reread my own..which I can see could easily be misinterpreted. So I just want to clarify that I was referring 100% to the "letter writer" and NOT YOU in any way, shape or form...noting that my reference to guys sharing misgivings here was ONLY a general comparison...nothing to do with this case in particular, OR you, as far as the "busted" thing goes.

In short..I feel you "done good" starting this thread and I agree with you 100% about the "letter writer" quite probably just "back pedaling" in an attempt to "save face" as you put it...or "clean it up" as frisco put it.
