Default Teddy Roosevelt 1907

Theodore Roosevelt's ideas on Immigrants and being an AMERICAN in 1907.

'In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the person's becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American...There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag... We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language... and we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people.'

Teddy was and always will be the greatest president we ever had. He is my favorite of all of them. Wish we had him around now. He would put us all back on the right path.

We have slipped far from the days when real men held that office. God help us and God help the USA.

A great post, Botz! A great quote from a great President. We sure need that kind of good sense in the places of authority today.
I hope your leg is getting better, have a great day and God bless, Sincerely: Shovelmike.

Those were the days before "Political Correctness". Now everyone with a personal agenda says what people want to hear so they don't offend someone else I really enjoy talking to folks that were in that era. My dad was a Marine during the late 40's, early 50's ( stationed on the New Jersey#62) and some of his fellow soldiers still call them gooks and alot of other things I don't care to repeat here. America is in pathetic shape

It would be great to see any of our elected officials, local, state or national, have this kind of courage again! As a former elected official I felt it my duty to do the job the people elected me to do, no it wasn't always popular, it wasn't always p.c., but I did my homework and did what was right. I was reelected twice and I still have the respect of the community where I served. I don't long for the good ol days, I want these to be the good ol days. P.S. I didn't take a dime for the time I served, it was a privilege!

Unfortunately, the apple fell really far from the tree, if you know what I mean.

Indeed. As is the case with many a great man or woman. Too bad the Kennedy clan have stayed true to their roots. They are all cookie cutter libs. The only thing I give JFK credit for is he was a life long NRA member. And I guess he did pretty good with Marylin Monroe. Va va va voom.

He's also responsible for setting aside most of the country's national parks that riders enjoy today. Like Harley Davidson, Teddy has a bit of a history in Milwaukee too, seeing as how he was shot in the chest there while giving a speech. He finished the speech before he would allow himself to be brought to a hospital. What kind of bike do you guys think Teddy would ride? I'd have to say a Road King.
