Hey Mike, got your message and I hope I was able to help. Down here we focus so much on cooling that heating is almost an afterthought. Ya'll think just the opposite. I did take a look at the Carrier system you bought and it's the real deal and top of the line. Let me know what they say when they come back out.

I have no idea at which point the pressure reading was taken. The system detects the variation from idea pressure, don't know where it monitors it.
The owner inherited the company from his father after working with him a number of years....he doesn't seem nearly as competent as his employees, kind of scatter brained. When I signed the contract to buy this system he assured me that they had financing readily available at 10%, they did the installation, then he informed me the 10% deal would take 3 weeks to run through and he needed the money sooner than that...offered an 18% deal, which I rejected. Fortunately my bank was offering a really good rate on home equity line of credit, wasn't how I planned on doing it but it worked out other than him prodding me saying, "Hurry it up would you." Yeah kind of a jerk too.
One of his techs came out and took measurements and they will contact me regarding price. I agree, this should have been done with the installation, not 18 months later. They are telling me it will cause eventual blower motor failure...maybe some damage has already been done after this long.....or it's really not an issue.
If they aren't going to be REAL reasonable I may find someone else to do the ducts....if its really a must.

Unless the motor is overamping I wouldn't see it failing prematurely. Since they failed to indentify the ductwork as a potential problem, you may want to consider having a factory rep take a look at the install. The local distributer should have a guy.

I feel your pain Mike. I just had to replace my HVAC this week (2 systems). I dang near fainted when I was given the price. Coils went bad on the main Heat Pump and it wouldn't hold a charge and the condensor was going bad on the split unit that runs the back side of the house. I went with Carrier Infinity systems as well. All the money I saved the last year plus for possibly a new bike next year is gone, plus some. They did replace some of my ducting that wasn't up to snuff size wise and if I have to do more later down the road like you I will be mighty upset. They should have caught yours on installation. Both systems were 12 yeaars old....and when they built my house they didn't put the best in. I just hope these new systems live up to thier billing... Man...life is getting very expensive. Clif

I am not an HVAC guy but I am getting an education as the place where I am employed has one new building and a newly renovated building both which have new HVAC units. Like it was suggested before call the manufacturer ASAP. On our new building that is what we did. After replacing 3 air conditioning compressors in 3 months the outfit that put the unit in had no idea what was cauing the problem.

Usually the static pressure is taken across the fillter (or filters ). It is used as a way to tell if the filters are blocked or need to be changed. Same for the coil(although not necessarily change). I would check the filters and if u have the owners manual I would check that filters installed have the same rating or size as carrier's specs. If u can get to the HX's and they look dusty u can vacuum them with a brush attachment. Becareful not to bnd or smash the fins.

Thanks for all the responses. I'll see if I can get hold of a factory rep, I'm pretty sure my dealer won't be helpful as he won't want to have his incompetence in the spot light, I'll have to try to find out who the regional distributor is.
As stated, all this stuff is getting really expensive as is everything else. God bless all of you. Sincerely: Shovelmike.

Yes, the system gets a new filter every 6 months. Even with a new filter the malfunction notice pops up there.
It's great that we can hang out here and help each other get through all this stuff.
