Hit a coyote yesterday on the way to work. Was telling my girlfriend how bummed I was about the car, and she says "good thing you werent on your bike". Hadn't even considered it. Usually I'm at work thiniking... man shoulda brought the bike... thank goodness I didnt yesterday...
Anyone else ever had an occasion they were glad they caged it?
As a matter of fact, I came close to something like that this morning. I'm following behind a small pickup (Toyota, Nissan, don't really know) at about 5:30 this morning down a country road. Off to the right, a fairly large doe springs into the path of the truck in front of me. The driver swerves left but clipped the deer with the right side of his fender/bumper. I swerve left also and the deer flops around on the road for a second, gets up and heads back from the direction it came from. The other driver and I pull into a park entrance driveway and check out his truck, just a small ding is visible in the dark. How fast were you going when you hit it? Brad Coleman (a driver for NASCAR's Joe Gibbs racing) hit one at about 190 mph in Arizona and it turned out like this.
No, this is not a photoshop job. A link to the rest of the story is here: http://dudelol.com/nascars-brad-cole...esting-graphic
Yours dosen't look quite as bad but I'm sure it still sucks.
When I was in high school, I was blasting along on the highway at approx 70-80 mph when a black lab ran in front of me... I just had enuff time to let off the throttle.... the dog hit just about center of the grill, pushed in the front end of my big block 70 Dodge Cornet, that pushed in the radiator that hit the fan and broke the water pump!!!! I almost think I felt the car lift off the ground on impact.
The dog owner was apologetic for his dog running loose, but didnt offer to pay for damage, and back in the 70's we didnt go around suing everyone, so I just had it towed home and fixed it myself......
Dogs, bears, wolves or deer can be hazards for sure. gotta keep an eye out for 'em
I hit a dog on my bike once..... that's another story.....

I took out a big cat one time. All it was, was just a bump, bump. Kitty didn't make it. I saw him 50 feet up the road it was just kittycide on his part.
I was driving down the freeway in our Explorer a few years ago when the pickup truck a couple of car lengths ahead and one lane to the left lost a large fiberglass extension ladder. It landed crossways directly in front of me, nowhere to go but right over it. That would have been really bad on the Harley. It did nothing to the Explorer and pulverized the ladder.

Please join me in this prayer daily.
This is my Granddaughter Sky, age 7. Can't walk, talk, or feed herself but look at that smile. Anyone care to complain about their lot in life? Not me!
My buddy hit a dog once; he said as soon as he saw the dog, he nailed the throttle and pulled back... the front tire came up, and he hit the dog with the motor and just 'jumped' over the dog, as the poor dog rolled under the back tire, and he kept the bike on 2 wheels, oh, he had his wife on the back too!!!! I dont know how the dog was after.....
When I hit a dog, it was just as I was leaving my buddies driveway and was going for 2nd gear... dog darted out from the bushes and hit the front tire...sending the bike up and hard left....so we flew up and hard right!!!! lucky we landed in a big mud puddle and soft dirt and grass... I hit first, and tried to roll around and 'catch' the girl I had as passenger... it sort of worked... as soon as we stopped rolling I was on my feet...checked out she was ok, and grabbed the baseball bat laying in the front yard and went after the dog....I ran thru back yards...even thru the dog owners house after that damn mutt....after I got tired of that... I went back to the bike, my buddy had the bike up and parked ... my passenger was thanking me for trying to catch her, and also for throwing her in that same mud puddle earlier in the day... she was all dressed up and lookin' good so I thought it would be funny to tackle her in the mud.... she had to change into her old clothes for the bike ride... so it was her old clothes that got tore up... not her new stuff from earlier...
that was a day I alway remember with a smile.... had fun in the mud , twice, hit a dog, and no one got hurt...
