Default Two wheel Drive.

Well it Finally snow here in Minnesota. Have about a foot on the ground and more to come this week. Sooo I guess I will be off the roads a week or two until they Dry up a bit. Gosh dang salt.

I pondered this last year. Ural has a two wheel drive Side car rig for about 10,000. I do not know of any American made product that is similar. I am sure it would cost a pretty penny. I am unskilled in creating one from scratch.

I need my winter fix and My two wheels are not out as much as I like. Roads just plain suck. So anyway. Does anyone know if these Urals? How about access to parts if they bust. Top recomended speed is about 60 to 65. This will be my snowmobile for the road and take both my boys on a ride in the nice weather scooter .

Its a long story but the short of it is its a BMW clone. Some parts are even interchangeable with the X-A which is also a BMW clone. Lots of info and history available on the net.

One of the guys on the board here has had one, said it was pretty much bullet proof.

From an earlier thread. Sounds like a Honda!

"They'll take a beating like no other bike, and with 2WD will go anywhere. They're quite dependable, but like any other bike will benfit from richer jets. They'll go down the highway at 60-65, but the engine is more comfortable at 55. It'll do 70."

Some worthwhile videos here. http://www.imz-ural.com/downloads/movies.htm

Check out Dirt Trails of the Cascade Mountains and Ural Snow Games. Being from Minnesota here is a picture I thought that you could relate to...

Tons of Ural info and discussions here, you just have to cruise arround the board until you find what you are looking for. http://imzwa.secureforum.com/guests

I remember yer post last year... I'll tell ya the same this year... Go get one! At least go to the dealer and watch the video. You'll buy it for sure then. I couldn't believe how well it went thru mud and snow. They are a little rough. At least the one I looked at was... still had some grinder marks on the sidecar sheet metal. That wouldn't deter me. These bikes are tough as nails, and I wish I could buy one.
