Default Surprised by VTX1800F

I had a Honda RC51 that I just have not been able to ride due to bad lower back. Since I just bought my Cross Bones I figured I might as well dump the RC51. Only problem was that it was financed, so I just traded it in on a VTX1800F. I got a great deal because the VTX is a 2006 that was new old stock and they were dying to get ride of it.
This thing is a monster, but rides very nice. I already have a set of cobras on order for it. Not the best pics because it started snowing right when I got it home.

Im not sure, I read a test on the N model VTX which is heavier and they said the rev limiter hit at 140 MPH. So I would think the F model will cut out about the same MPH but since it is the sportier version, maybe just get there alittle quicker.

That is a good looking bike - i bet that thing will go faster than I would want to be on it. I had to quit riding the edge of the envelope sometime ago.....quit racing cars - quit speed boats - but I do ride the Harley.

I hear ya, ill never see those speeds, thats why I traded off the RC51 for a cruiser. I just wanted a bike to ride with the wife on the back.
I have the X Bones but thats a single seater, and I do not want to put on a passenger seat and pegs.

Don't mean to be a spoil sport, but this forum is "American" iron and discussions of the VTX, while it might be a fine machine, are really more approrpiate at the bulletin board on www.RoadBikeMag.com.

Hope you understand.

Thanks.

While I understand that this site is for people who loves Harleys... isn't the heading of this particular forum "Other Motorcycle Manufacturers"? And,isn't the VTX from an "Other Motorcycle Manufacturer"? I don't quite follow the logic here.

Default nice bike

A friend of mine has one. Very fast and powerful machine. Too fast. I think my arms were 2" longer when I finished my trial run. He says its made here in the states somewhere.

They were built in Ohio, but Honda is moving all motorcycle manufacturing back to Japan. They built a new plant that can supply world demand for their bikes in that new plant.

Hey Buzz,

Even though KnuckleHead shares the same IP address as a Number of Banned members.... Uh.... this is hard for me but Fair. I have to side with Knuckle Head. I see no problems with the VTX post in "Other Motorcyle Manufacturers".

It dosent say Other "American Motorcycle Manufactuers". Whylee has himself a Harley but informed readers on a new bike he picked up. A good number of us started out on Plastic Japanese bikes and some still own them. You read about them in other threads. Heck I crashed one in the back of someones garage... Didnt drop it but the plastic cracked.

Buzzes objection overruled??
