Default What Happened to............

Anyone know what happened to the Nostalgia-Cycle SuperVee? Is that engine still being made? Who has the tooling and rights for it?

Also, what happened to the Excelsior-Henderson Super X?

I know both the above companies went out of business, but I don’t know what happened to the tooling, rights, and so forth…………

One of the motorcycle dealers in the Melbourne, Florida area used to sell the Excelsior-Henderson Super X. I saw the bikes in the showroom and one of the salesmen actually started one up for me. It sounded good. But I never got a chance to ride one, so I don’t have clue how it actually performed. Anyone know?

I don't know where the rights/tooling ended up for either of those. The Super-Vee used small block Chevy pistons, rods, bearings etc.
The Excelsior-Henderson Super X was interesting..odd looking fork. Too bad they didn't succeed.

The SuperVee interested me as far back as the mid-1990s. I always thought the idea of being able to make use of the extensive and reasonably priced aftermarket for the small-block Chevy would be great. The high price of “motorcycle” parts has always been a sore point for me. I obtained lot of information on this engine back then, but then got distracted with other things and lost track of what became of the engine. I’m not that interested in the bike, just the engine. I view it as one-fourth of a small-block Chevy and air-cooled, which is exactly what it is. The very little I did read about the engine--other than the factory literature--was that a lot of folks weren’t that happy with it, but I also think the engine was misapplied. I’d be very interested if anyone knows where the engine tooling and rights went.

The Excelsior-Henderson Super X seemed to be more-or-less on target, but that goofy looking front end and questions about long-term factory and aftermarket support kept me at bay. I did hear both good and bad about how the bike performed, but mostly I heard that the bike performed well and factory support sucked.

Along those lines, the Quantum four-valve Evo clone (for the most part, as I remember, a RevTech engine with Quantum heads) disappeared into the night. Anyone hear what happened to the tooling for those four-valve heads?
