The SuperVee interested me as far back as the mid-1990s. I always thought the idea of being able to make use of the extensive and reasonably priced aftermarket for the small-block Chevy would be great. The high price of “motorcycle” parts has always been a sore point for me. I obtained lot of information on this engine back then, but then got distracted with other things and lost track of what became of the engine. I’m not that interested in the bike, just the engine. I view it as one-fourth of a small-block Chevy and air-cooled, which is exactly what it is. The very little I did read about the engine--other than the factory literature--was that a lot of folks weren’t that happy with it, but I also think the engine was misapplied. I’d be very interested if anyone knows where the engine tooling and rights went.
The Excelsior-Henderson Super X seemed to be more-or-less on target, but that goofy looking front end and questions about long-term factory and aftermarket support kept me at bay. I did hear both good and bad about how the bike performed, but mostly I heard that the bike performed well and factory support sucked.
Along those lines, the Quantum four-valve Evo clone (for the most part, as I remember, a RevTech engine with Quantum heads) disappeared into the night. Anyone hear what happened to the tooling for those four-valve heads?
