Default Old Family Photo of Indian

Hi there, I found an old photo of my Grandpa up in Canada, Edmonton Alberta area. He is on the right. I guess motorcycling is hereditary. I never knew he rode till after I was in my 30's. I been riding since i was 18 or 19. always had the "urge".

Sure wish I had this bike today. Any guesses as to what year this one is???

I think this was in the late 20's or early 30's.

My guess is grandpa is on a 1930 Indian 101 Scout and his pal is on a 1929 or 1930 Harley single (Harley used the dual bullet headlights only in 1929 and 1930).

Cool photo.

That is a really cool picture. No idea what year those would be but would have to have to lace up the boots grandpa wore.

Very nice photo. Yes indeed, the urge to ride is genetic, my father and grandfather had the condition as well.

Thanks for the year info Buzz,

Grandpa was also a Pilot in the Royal Canadian Air Force... pictures of him in his Bi=Plane were in the same photo album..... I do have his leather helmet and white scarf from the flying days.... aren't grand parents the coolest !!!!!
I always wondered why I wanted mini bikes.... and motorcycles but my parents tried to discourage me. It didnt work. when I was "at my friends playing" were actually out on his dad's dirt bike doin' some hill climbing.... so after I got out on my own, I got a bike right away and never looked back. I didnt even have a car for a couple years...and that was up in Salem Oregon..... I rode year round, even in the snow.

Great old photo! The 101 Scout was built from 1928 through 1931 as either a 37 CI or 45 CI. Legend has it they were one of the best handling motorcycles ever built. They were and still are run in the Wall of Death shows at county fairs. Do a Utube search on the Wall of Death, pretty cool!!
My guess the Harley is a '29 or '30 Model D, a 45 CI twin Harley built to compete with the 101 your grandpa is on.

Great photo, love the guy in the white shirt and tie. I love that they are not on the pavement, but looks like they are camping. Doubt the hauled that tent on the back of the bikes, but very neat.

I was wondering the same thing... and how did the poles get there, did they carry the canvas on the bike and then cut local tree's? hmmmm
