Question 2005 Detroit Chopper: Information

Hi Everybody:
I'm looking at a 2005 Detroit Choper it appears to be an agressor model.
96In S&S 6-Speed Premier trans
I was told the chopper is a soft tail with chain drive.

It appears to have drag bars.

I would like to know what anybody thinks of this chopper? this guy says the chopper is worth $15,000 I noticed on the web-site the bike listed for $22,000 when it was new back in 2005

This chopper does not appear to be an high end type of chopper, it appears to be like a stripped out titan type of bike.

All chrome spokes the motor appears to be chromed out a little more than stock. I'm worried about the frame being strong enough not to break, I have heard of earlier Big Dogs having the frame break driving downt the road. Also some choppers had rear soft tail shock failure.

Is this a provin quality chopper or just another mass produced lower end machine with out the big cost of a truely custom chopper.

Thanks
Garman

Hi,Garman...welcome aboard.
I can't tell you much about Detroit Choppers except that they're located near here...and I've checked out their little shop (nice enough) just for something to do.

You might want to click on the link below...with their address and phone #...to talk with them direct

http://www.chopperdirectory.com/db_clients/88.php

Yeah...I know...they're not going to tell you what if anythings wrong with their machines. But if you have the V.I.N. for the bike (or good description) they ought to be able to fill you in at least on what you're looking at,etc...if they're still there,anyhow...not sure.

Thanks EvoKen:
I will look into the info you provided to me.
It appears Precision Cyle Works manufactures Detroit Chopper if I read an earlier article?

Do you know anything about the 6-Speed Premo trans. I know about Baker trans but nothing about Premo?

Than You for welcoming me to this awsome web-site I will look forward to getting back with you to let you know if I ended-up with this Chopper. It has 2,200 original miles bare bones of source I'm not real crazy about all the tins being orange, but I can break it up with some pin stripes, scroll work etc. Just changing out the oil tank color to gloss black will break it up a little.

Thanks

I remember seeing them on Biker Build off on Discovery Channel (Yeah, I watched every one of them!). They showed some bikes they had built and they all kinda looked like this although if I remember correctly they built a street fighter type bike for the build off. Don't know how well they hold up though. That's the best I could do!

Hey,Sgt
I have'nt watched all of the biker build off shows. But, since I don't know that "Detroit-Choppers" actually build what they sell...is it possible that what you may have seen was "Detroit Bros" vs "Exile" ??
