You know, even though Harley has been in continuous production it has really undergone three ownerships. Harley Davidson founder, AMF buy out, then Willie G and investors buy out. So, that is like Haley1, Harley2, Harley3. To be fair we'd have to say that it is Indian1, Indian2, and Indian3. Today to be politically correct maybe we better say Native American. Poor Christopher Columbus thought he was in India, silly fool. He was about 516 years short of a GPS. bahaha!
I do love the old Indians. I even love the second generation kit bike Indians in some forms. I hope this newest Indian will make it's mark as once again a true Indian in it's own right.
This Indian2 is a custom that belongs to a friend of mine. It gets more attention from the crowds at rallies than most all of the expensive Harley customs.
See I would disagree about Harley - Harley has been in continuos production during those changes - so no it is still Harley Davidson.1 - it can't be like baseball where the last 20 years will be ----- Baseball 1892 - 1979, 1980 - 2004*, 2005 to present
this is what we would call fuzzy logic I guess
* steroid era

Nothing sucks more than that moment during an argument when you realize you're wrong.
That Chief looks really great. Regarding the term Indian, what we were taught in school is incorrect. I read an excellent article a few years ago by a native American/Indian who explained the true origin. The Spanish invaders named the native people "Los Ninos In Dios" The Children of God because they were so trusting. It was later shortened to Indios which evolved to Indian. Therefore the writer is in no way offended by the term. I guess what school children were taught was a form of propaganda. They didn't want to tell us that the early European settlers / our founding fathers so badly abused The Children of God.

This is my Granddaughter Sky, age 7. Can't walk, talk, or feed herself but look at that smile. Anyone care to complain about their lot in life? Not me![IMG][/IMG]
To be silly; taken to the literal extreme, since the firm went public in 1986, every time someone buys their grandkid a single share of Harley-Davidson to give him a start on his poke, there has been, to some degree, a change, of ownership.
After Indian 2 put the screws to the owners, dealers and investors Indian 3 will definitely have teething problems. And with the premium price they'll be asking It'll make it even harder. But hopefully this time they'll make a go of it.
I understand the factory people are now intiving some members of the press to the factory for a visit and product preview. Should be interesting. We'll keep you posted.
Should I rid down on my 1947 Chief or my 1931 101 Scout (photo under my signature)?
