Question Picking an engine

Has anyone had any experience with or know anything about either the Ultima 107" or the Revtech 110" engines? I am thinking of using one of these in my build. I am using a softail setup with a six-speed tranny. I have run this thing thru my mind until I am seeing double. I thought about getting a used evo and rebuilding it to a 96, but by the time I do that I will have more invested in the motor than if I just bought a new crate motor. Any suggestions or info would be appreciated. No, I cannot afford one of those store-bought customs. I'm doing the whole thing myself, right down to the paint. It has definitely been an experience. A lot of fun, frustration, mistakes, and an awesome learning process. Thanks for listening folks!!!!!

I don't have any experience with the crate motors but wanted to jump in and welcome you to the forum. You will be able to ride with pride on a bike that you build yourself...the people who buy the store bought bikes can't.
I'm sure there will be many good suggestions for you here. As you begin your build post pictures and let us know how it goes. Ride safe and God bless, Sincerely: Shovelmike.

Hi Bass

You're my kinda guy..
I have Never bought a store-sickle or one built by another..
I Only ride what I've built..

I've had the best luck over the years with motors built by Very Good Reputable builders Known to me..
The worst luck was with Factory Crate Motors..

The best Crate Motor so far is my Ultima 127"..
It had head machining probs, gaskets leaking and factory assembly probs..
BUT Ultima was More than co-operative,, paid for all work whether done by me or their local Rep and finally a trip back to the Co. for a complete re-build by their "bad motor" specialist..
It has been Perfect since.. I would buy another..
I think the Ultimas are going for about 3600 - 3800 now..

The worst Crate Motors were two Factory S&S 113" motors..
One had the wrong size manifold installed at the factory, they sent another.. One had head Gasket leak at 1500 Mi. and then both self-destructed at about 4,000 Mi.
S&S was slightly Co-operative.. Never again for me..

Have a ball

You can buy some crate motors on ebay. shovelheadkicker seller sells new S&S 117" crate motors from time to time. They are new from bdm. Which only means they are an EPA motor with taller cyclinders, but still good motors with high 9 compression and a 585 cam.

I have had good luch with my Rev-Tech 100" in my Factory Custom bike...BMC... I didnt build it myself, I bought it alreay built and I ride it like it's stolen and so, far, she has held up...
Well, there is one thing....... the Rev Tech ignition took a crap at 15k, but that was an easy fix. It wasnt under warentee anymore, so I had to fork out the cash for that,

That is the only Hand's On experience I have had with the motors you mention.

and Welcone to the forum! let us know what you motor you get, and post a picture or two if yo gottem!
