Default Dakota Digital Guages

After talking with the sales guys at Dakota Digital I purchased their 6 pac gauge kit for a Custom Bagger I'm building. I was told if I have any problem just to give a call and someone would walk me through the procedures.

First, if you buy these gauges you will probably need to call. The installation manuals leave a lot to be desired. I had to call three times, and each call was very unpleasant. Once was with a Tech that kept telling me how to connect a gauge function. I kept telling him I have MOTORCYCLE gauges. I finally gave up. Another call was about connecting the speedo and whether or not I could tee into a particular wire at the radio. After about 15 minutes, I asked if he had access to the wiring diagrams, he said yes, but not in front of him. After a pause I very politely apologized for asking him tech questions and for bothering him. I asked for SOMEONE that would help me. He said, "oh, that is my job..." and went and got the manual.

You know, these gauges are expensive. You'd at least think a company would would try to help. Not this one. Dakota Digital, you won't get very many recommendations from me for your products, I don't care how good they are. If I could, I would return the gauges, but I'm stuck, and I'll do my best to let others know....

Thats interesting as I had just the opposite experience, although it was from the custom gauge dept. of the business. The tech built me a gas gauge for my stock cup and sending unit on a 98 FXD. Had a bit of trouble getting it to work first time around so I sent it back and they picked up the tab and modified it again and even bought me a new bezel that was damaged while I was attempting to get the gauge back out of the sender a second time, my own fault. I found the experience top notch. Again, this was a different dept. The Dakota Digital Custom dept. Did deal with the original sales folks to get there though and that was good to.

Wait...Wait...Wait....I have the Answer...socalitems.com ,,,,,Has the easiest and cheapest way to get the Harley Speedometer upgrade anyone needs. Socalitems has these sick Stainless Steel Guage faces for your Road king, Softail, Glide, Baggers,,,,Just about any Harley 2000 and up can now have there Speedometer Upgraded to a real Spun or they call it Brushed Metal,,,NOT PLASTIC... You can now personlize your Speedometer with one of their sick etched designs ,,(skulls) (Spider web) (Flames) (gears) or even have it paint matched. They Do all the work,,,You send them your guages ,,,they have them for a couple days ,,yah know to take apart the gauges and install the gauge face you want. ,,Oh they also install a new needle and bitchen bezel. You do not need to deal with any dirrection manual or make any frustrating calls,,,You just ship it to them,,,the swap out the plastic face with the new Metal etched gauge face and ship it back. Its painless.
