When I need it I prefer my black carbon fiber full coverage Harley FXRG helmet (which I wore at Maxton for the land speed record runs). When I don't need a full face I often wear one of my half helmets with sun glasses or goggles.

The short answer is: whichever one I've got on when my nut needs protecting. For me, it's a half helmet and wrap-around shades. I have goggle inserts, but only where 'em when it's really cold, windy, or dry outside.

John 1:14
It is the duty of nations, as well as of men, to own their dependence upon the overruling power of God, to confess their sins and transgressions, in humble sorrow, yet with assured hope that genuine repentance will lead to mercy and pardon; and to recognize the sublime truth announced in the Holy Scriptures and proven by all history, that those nations only are blessed whose God is the LORD. ----Abraham Lincoln
If the whole gang is riding together, I'll wear my half helmet. If I'm going to be on the interstate on a trip or good long ride, I'll put on the full face to help my face from windburn, but I'll have the shorty in the bag to slip on once we get there.
I use a bogus little 15-yr old novelty helmet that I attached a small visor to years ago. There's no way you could call that thing a helmet, but it appeases John Law in my state. Why do I wear such a stupid little worthless peice of crap? Because I choose to, of course.....
I currently wear a HD 1/2 (Chineese junk) for around town & events riding, and a Shoei RJ Platnium 3/4 for touring and foul weather. I'm still looking for that magic fit, best look and most protection as long as it's not a full face. I've only been riding for a year after a 23 year hibatus, so it may be a while before I can say "it's my favorite helmet."
The HD 1/2 makes my head look like a mushroom, and the Shoei RJ is HUGE but definately quality and offers superior 3/4 protection. But I always wear one even though the state of Ohio is a helmet free state.

I wear a novelty helmet all the time even though I do not have to wear a helmet in my state. I am looking for a DOT motorcross type helmet that has the chin guard and no face sheild. Does anyone know if there is such a helmet made?

My favorite helmet is none at all, Tried to get used to it and be safer but it just blows. However, when it's real cold out I do wear a full helmet with shield, it's warm as hell in there. Ignorant ain't it? I'll wear it for warmth but not to be safe. Well at least I'm protected in the cold months!

Hi Buzz. The LSR article in the latest AIM was great. Congrats to y'all. I'm an AIM subscriber new to this forum. Once I figure it out I'll post a profile.
I like Shoei cause they're comfortable and pretty quiet. And I can get a good price on Shoei through mail order. A helmet saved my life at 17 years old when I collided with a Trojan bucket loader at a construction site in Enfield, Ct. in 1969 while riding my W2TT Kawasaki Commander 650 OHV verticle twin. It cut the bike literally in half.....from the front fork tube through the engine (you could see the piston) to the rear shock. I got thrown some 30' and landed on my head. I can still feel the soft 'thump' when I hit head first and rolled into a construction mud puddle. Doctor said I would have fractured my skull. Now I am in my 59th year and always wear a lid. Full face for the highway and on long rides and in allergy season. Half helmet (which is what I was wearing in '69) for back and forth to work.
I wear a Scorpion 3/4 with face shield so my glasses stay on. If it is warm out and you are stopped facing the sun it gets rather toasty if you don't flip the shield up.
