American Iron Magazines Expand & Staff Up
As American Iron Magazine and American Iron Garage expand coverage in the new year, the team at TAM Communications are looking to staff up. “The first stage of our 2018 expansion for Harley and Indian motorcycle enthusiasts, is to add a part-time editor in our Stamford, CT offices.” Publisher Buzz Kanter stated. “We are also looking to add a few more high quality freelance photographers and writers to both magazines.”
“We already have a world-class team,” Kanter stated “But we feel the need to build on it to keep up the standards as we maintain our demanding publishing schedule.”
They are looking to add a few more freelance photographers and writers from around the US and Canada. Specifically in the areas of motorcycle tours, feature (custom and classic) motorcycles, event coverage, personality pieces & interviews, and solid tech and install articles.
The motorcycle magazine field showed signs of contracting last year and appears to continue consolidating in 2018. “Everyone expects a lot from American Iron products.” Kanter stated. “We don’t want to just meet those expectations. We want to exceed them for our growing audience both in print and on-line.”
In the last few months, a number of other motorcycle magazines have gone out of business or significantly cut back their number of issues. And there’s a good chance there will be more disruption in the near future.
“The American Iron products are as solid as the name implies.” Kanter stated. “We saw these industry-wide challenges coming and planned accordingly.”
American Iron Magazine, published since 1989, continues to be published every four weeks, for 13 issues a year. It is the undisputed best-selling magazine in the field.
American Iron Garage, launched only a few years ago, has grown into the world’s best-selling tech and how-to motorcycle magazine. It expanded from quarterly in 2016 to bimonthly frequency in 2017 and will publish 6 issues again this year.
