“But this sound wasn’t sad!
Why, this sound sounded glad!” – How the Grinch Stole Christmas

The glad sound thundering around southern Oregon’s Rogue Valley came from the pipes of hundreds of motorcyclists who showed up to support the 37th annual Southern Oregon Toy Run. They arrived at Touvelle Lodge, a favorite watering hole of local bikers, with handlebars wrapped in garlands and bright bulbs on their bikes on a chilly Saturday morning. They came with teddy bears, board games, building blocks, remote control cars, Barbies, dolls and toys, toys, toys for girls and boys on their bikes and in their saddlebags. The procession then paraded through town, families standing roadside waving excitedly, big smiles on kids’ faces. When the bounty was collected it filled up a room at the Eagles Lodge #2093. Thanks to the benevolence of the local motorcycling community children throughout southern Oregon who could use extra holiday cheer will have a little something under their trees come Christmas morning.

Spearheading the 37th annual event was custom bike builder Mark Daley and his team at Thunderstruck Custom Bikes. But as they say, “it takes a village” which is more than true in this case because numerous businesses and people rallied around the cause to make it happen. Daley expressed his gratitude to all those who helped out via Facebook.
