Harley-Davidson Partners With Milwaukee Bucks
The Milwaukee Bucks announced today that the team’s official jersey sponsor will be none other than Milwaukee’s own Harley-Davidson. The pairing of the two stalwarts of the Milwaukee area is rooted in the deep connections to the city and to the Midwest.
The Bucks’ official website posted an announcement video, with flashing images of explosive dunks and ripping baggers juxtaposed via quick edits. And for those interested, the Bucks’ official twitter has also posted a thread of the evolution of its jerseys since 1968, culminating with the sharp design of the new Nike home and away kits with the Bar and Shield sewn to the top left shoulder.
The Bucks are the 12th NBA team to announce an official jersey sponsorship. By pairing with Harley-Davidson, the Bucks organization shows a commitment to the Milwaukee area and an awareness of both H-D’s and their own influence in the local area.
For Harley, this is a smart move, expanding their products’ exposure to the broad base of the NBA demonstrates a willingness to take a relative risk for a potentially high reward. As of 2016, the NBA is second only to the MLS (avg. age of 40) in youngest average viewership age at 42. A younger audience becoming more familiar with the H-D brand could be a recipe for future fans of the American Big Twins.
If you’re in the area, there’s a celebration of the partnership planned for tonight, August 10, at 5 pm CT, at the Harley-Davidson Museum. Fireworks are planned!
