Top 10 Motorcycle Rallies of the Summer
8. Laughlin River Run – April 27 – 30, 2016
All right, the Mongols and Hells Angels had a little brouhaha and busted up Harrah’s one year during the Laughlin River Run. Can’t we all just get along?
The Laughlin River Run not only suffered from the black eye the brawl gave it, but in the following years there was such a heavy police presence, some people stopped coming to this biker gathering in the Mojave.
Luckily, tensions have eased, the police presence has lightened up, and riders are beginning to return to the River Run. Which is a good thing, because there’s plenty of fun to be had at Laughlin.
The majority of events take place on Casino Drive, a strip of casinos sitting on the banks of the Colorado River. There’s tons of vendors and action along Casino Drive, so you can park the bike and spend the day walking around and checking things out. Finding a spot and watching motorcycles cruise up and down the strip is a popular pastime. The Hogs & Heifers Bar always draws a crowd, while bike shows, bands, and hooligan stunt shows performed by the Unknown Industries crew provide a constant rotation of entertainment. Riding out to the old Western mining town of Oatman to feed the local burros is a must. So is a trip down historic Route 66. Creedence Clearwater Revisited and Bret Michaels are headliners this year, and the Ms. Laughlin River Run contest is always a crowd pleaser. The desert has a certain beauty to it in the spring, adding to the River Run experience.
