Top 10 Motorcycle Rallies of the Summer
3. Bikes, Blues & BBQ – September 21 – 24, 2016
The celebration in Fayetteville, Arkansas, is full of Southern charm. What other rally do you know of has lawn mower pulls? It’s got the perfect trifecta – Bikes, Blues & BBQ!
Dickson Street in downtown Fayetteville, with bars and restaurants on both sides, is the center of action. Music spills out of just about every venue as blues musicians come from near and far. The Dickson Street Beer Garden hosts headliners on its main stage too, along with being home to the “Battle of the Bikes” and the Miss Bikes, Blues & BBQ contest.
Out at the Washington County Fairgrounds they hold the aforementioned lawn mower pulls and the BBQ cook-off. They take their “Q” serious in these parts. Friday night there’s a “People’s Choice” cook-off where you can walk around and sample the goods. The next day it gets serious as they hold the Kansas City BBQ Society BBQ Championship.
Bikes, Blues & BBQ takes place in the beautiful Arkansas Ozarks and there’s no shortage of incredible roads to explore. Last year we discovered the Talimena National Scenic Byway, also known as the Winding Stair, thanks to a tip from a local. A trip to Eureka Springs is a must, too.
Like West Virginia MountainFest, Bikes, Blues & BBQ is also a non-profit organization that does a lot of good for the local community with the money it raises. And it’s got the recipe for success – Bikes, Blues and BBQ, which is why it clocks in at number 3 on our Top Ten Motorcycle Rally list.
