Cycle Gear/Women’s Coalition to Award 10 Big Apple Motorcycle School Scholarships

Cycle Gear Inc. & the Women’s Coalition of Motorcyclists is dedicated to doubling the number of female riders by 2020. In pursuit of this goal, Cycle Gear Inc. has donated $10,000 to help fund WCM scholarships to women in need. To implement their gracious donation WCM has partnered with Big Apple Motorcycle School Inc. Founder and President Diane Ortiz to establish a scholarship program for 6 basic rider and 4 experienced rider scholarships, 10 in total to promising female motorcyclists to attend The Big Apple Motorcycle School instructed by certified motorcycle trainers. Held in Long Island, New York, the focus is to build confidence in individuals who want to grow as riders.

The scholarship award will cover: Six MSF Basic Rider Course (BRC) scholarships valued at $350 per rider. Each includes: a 3-hour E-course, 5-hours of instruction, and 10-hours of on-motorcycle training; bike rental, helmet and gloves; as well as a waived NYS motorcycle road test if course is successfully passed. In addition, four MSF Rider Course Skills Practice (BRC2SP) scholarships valued at $125 per rider which includes: in-depth riding techniques and procedures for experienced riders. In addition to targeting female youth, WCM, Inc. provides funds for female motorcyclists in their pursuit of excellence on the road, in the dirt or on track as trainers and/or competitors in all motorcycling disciplines. Paid memberships in WCM, Inc., industry partnerships and matching funds contributions provide the horsepower for scholarship awards.
